Part 51

continuation of August 23rd

Owen's POV

Amelia and I got down to the ER as fast as we could and look around trying to find her. Derek runs up to us, "Guys she's in the room over there." As soon as he says that I try to push past him but he grabs my arm, "Owen. You know as a doctor you can't be in there when they are trying to figure out what her injuries are. You are her father right now."

"Is she awake? How bad does it look?" Amelia asks crying.

Derek puts his arm around her, "She is awake, and it doesn't look too bad."

Amelia and I both nod, "Can we stand outside the room?"

Derek nods, "Yes. I will allow that, but do not come in until we say you can."

Amelia and I walk over and stand outside the room. I start looking around and I see a bunch of doctors also in another room, I peek in and see Chris.

"Mel, Chris was in an accident too. He's in the other room." I tell her and wrap my arms around her in a hug. She's still crying and I rub her back trying my best to be calm in this situation cause she can't be getting all worked up.

Link walks out of Carmen's room and Amelia stops him, "Link! Tell us what's going on in there. Please"

Link nods, "Shes awake and alert. She's scared. They are gonna take her up for scans right now. But she's been talking so she'll be okay."

"Do you know anything about Chris? It's her boyfriend he's over there."

Link shakes his head, "I'm headed there now."

We watch as he walks away and then we see Bailey, April, and Callie wheeling Carmen's bed out. She's in a neck brace and crying, "I want my parents. Please."

Amelia and I run over, "Carmen, we're here." Amelia kisses her head, "You're okay honey."

"I'm so sorry" she says laying there.

"Shh, shh it's okay. They are gonna take you up to get some scans. Then we will come in the room with you okay?" I say to her.

"O-Okay" She says as Amelia lightly squeezes her hand.

Amelia and I step back to let them take her up. Amelia sighs, "She'll be okay. It didn't look bad."

I nod, "she's okay." I hug Amelia again.

Amelia's POV:

They bring Carmen back into the room and I sit down beside the bed. She still looks pretty shaken up. "What happened sweetheart?" I ask her as I hold her hand.

"A car ran into the back of us. Chris was driving, is he here? Is he okay?"

Owen nods, "He is here. He is okay too."

I rub her hand, "Once the doctors come back in with all your results we will see if Chris can come in okay?"

Carmen nods, "Mom are you alright? I don't want you to be all worked up. It's bad for the babies isn't it?" She looks at Owen and he nods.

"I'm okay. Your dad did a good job of keeping me calm, as he always does. But I feel better now that you are sitting here talking to us." I smile a bit.

April and Callie walk back into the room smiling and I feel so relieved. April talks first, "Good news is you don't have any internal injuries! Everything looked normal." Callie nods, "Now you do have a dislocated right shoulder. And Dr. Shepherd, Derek said you have a minor concussion that will be okay in a few days."
