Carmen - 16

Twins - 32 weeks, month 8

Amelia's POV:

"Meredith!" I call from my bathroom. She runs in, "What? Please don't tell me your water broke." I laugh, "No but everyone always thinks that. Can you drive me to the hospital? I have my 32 week appointment today. Owen was going to come and get me, but he got tied up. He also is afraid of me driving myself anywhere." I finish doing my makeup and stretch out my back.

"Yeah I can take you. Carmen is also staying home from school today so she can watch Blake."

I look up, "Why is she staying home?"

Meredith chuckles, "She said she is taking a mental health day."

I shrug, "Fair enough. We just won't tell Owen." I walk out of the bathroom and collapse onto the bed. "I gotta take a break before I get dressed."

Meredith laughs and sits beside me, "You know, you can always see you coming around a corner cause your bump sticks so far out ahead."

"Meredith! That's rude." I rub my bump. "Aunt Meredith is a meanie boys."

Meredith stands up and opens my closet, "what are you wearing?"

"Leggings. And grab one of Owen's t-shirts they at least cover my stomach." Meredith nods and hands me leggings and an army t shirt from Owen's closet.

"Now help me get the leggings on." I laugh and she helps me then I put on Owen's shirt. "I'm gonna check on Carmen then I will come down so we can leave."

I walk down to Carmen's room and knock on the door which results in her opening it for me, "Hey mom"

"Hi! Why aren't you going to school today?" I ask as I lean against the wall.

"Everything is perfect I promise, I just need a break. I was planning on studying for a big Biology test I have next week." She points to the papers on her desk.

"Okay that's fine Car. I just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong." I smile at her, "Mer is gonna take me to my appointment then I'll be home later. I might just stay at the hospital with dad and have him bring me home. I'll text you though. Call me if you need anything and if Blake is misbehaving."

"Sounds good send me pictures of the boys." She hugs me and then I walk down the steps slowly to meet Meredith.

I see Owen standing at the desk in the ER and I walk over to him, "You're in scrubs today!" I smile at him.

"Yes I just finished a surgery. How are you?" He puts his hand on my back. "I like your shirt, looks familiar." He chuckles and kisses me.

"Didn't you know that I was also in the army?" I laugh and look at the Ipad he's holding, "Any good neuro cases?"

"I don't think so. Is work all you ever think about Mel?" He asks looking at me.

I shrug, "It gets me through! I also think about my husband" I smirk at him.

He laughs and shakes his head, "You are in a good mood today aren't you?" He hands the Ipad to the nurse and starts walking with me. 

"Well I am trying to keep my spirits high even though these boys are currently crushing my pelvis." I reach down and hold his hand as we get into the elevator.

"It'll be over soon." He kisses my forehead. "You are doing great, I am so proud of you."
