Right Time, Right Place

Part 37

Saturday October 16th (Amelia's birthday!! I don't know when her birthday actually is, however this is Caterina Scorsone's birthday so I'm going with it)

Carmen's POV:

I wake up at 4:00 AM and sneak into my parents room and grab my dads phone then tiptoe back out. His alarm is set for 5:30, so I had to do this quick. I smile at his Lock Screen picture of Blake and I with my grandma. I search through his contacts for April Kepner and I text her. I know she's working now so she should be on her phone, I know this because I asked Aunt Megan.

To April : Hey, this is Carmen. Can you switch my dad to work now and he will work for you tonight. That's when my mom works and it's her birthday and I didn't want him to work the whole day.

Aunt Megan can't work today cause she's on a weekend trip with Uncle Nate now.

April texts back: Yeah I can do that! Tell your mom I said happy birthday :) And tell your dad that he needs to be in at 6.

I decide to keep my dads phone with me and shut off his alarm so they can get more sleep. I'll wake them up and he'll be in a panic that he's late. It'll be funny!

8:00 AM

I walk into my parents room again holding Blake and yell "Happy Birthday!"

Just as I imagined, my dad sits up quickly, "oh my god what time is it?" He reaches for his phone but they are definitely still naked so he holds the sheet over top of him.

"Looking for this?" I hold up his phone.

"Carmen what the hell. Give me that I need to go to work! I'm definitely late"

I laugh, "So about that. I stole your phone and texted April and she's working now for you. You have to go in at 6 with mom."

My mom laughs a bit, "And why did you go through all this trouble."

"I wanted us to spend your birthday together, as a family." I smile at them.

My dad still looks completely confused but my mom smiles, "Thanks Car, that is really sweet of you. We can definitely spend the day together. That's all I want!"

I toss my dad his phone back, "But you two need to get dressed first. Blake and I will be downstairs!" I turn around and walk downstairs with Blake.

"Hey we are dressed." My mom announces as she walks down the steps with my dad. They are both in sweats and my mom is wearing one of my dads t-shirts, as she always does.

"Dad can we tell mom her present now?" I ask excited and my mom looks up at us confused.

"Well we decided to both think of what to get you. Carmen helped me plan all of it. You will understand what that means in a minute." My dad grabs his laptop and sets it on the counter and tells my mom to come over.

Amelia's POV:

I gasp and shake my head, "Owen you did not! This place is a dream ! We have talked about this since we started dating!" I look at tickets for Maui, Hawaii.

Carmen and Owen both smile at me and I bring them both in for a hug. "Who all is going?! When is this? Do we have a house?"

Owen laughs and puts his hand on my shoulder, "One question at a time. And it's just the four of us going. I wanted this to be our first family vacation with just us. It's going to be June 13th-June 20th. It's a week and we will be celebrating Blake's first birthday there, which will be fun. And yes we have a house. You and Carmen don't get to see the pictures though I'm keeping it a secret." He grins at both of us.
