Five Years Before The Fall of Insomnia
"Are you sure, Nyx?" I asked as I tugged at my shirt, but he nodded.

"All women wear outfits similar to this during the Festival." He said and I nodded, holding his arm as we got to the Immigrant District. Instantly, I saw colorful lanterns, so many different food stalls and behemoth decorations, and so many people were laughing.

"Wow!" I breathed and Nyx laughed. Like he had said, many women were dressed in similar clothes to my own or even less.

"Nyx-"

"This festival is about freedom, and a lot of people take that freedom to their own clothes and bodies. You'll see more of these people here than you would normally." He excused the people as he led me to the center of the district where the open square was. Inside the square, I saw people dancing, the music filled the air, and I could tell this is where the fireworks were set off.

"NYX!" I looked over and Nyx held my hand tightly, taking me to the table where a few familiar faces sat.

"Atalie, this is Crowe, Libertus, Pelna, Luche, and Yamachang! Guys, Princess Atalie!" Nyx called over the music and I smiled as I remembered the familiar faces.

"Pleasure to meet you formally!" I smiled and sat as Nyx pulled out the chair for me. As he pushed it in, Libertus slid me a plate of food.

"Eat if you're going to be here-"

"Libs, be nice!" Crowe yelled as I smiled.

"Thank you, Libertus!" I said and bit into the food, which was rather good.

"Isn't that spicy?!" Yamachang yelled, the Galahdians sporting smirks, but I shrugged.

"It's rather dull actually!" I called and Nyx laughed as his friends gaped.

"She likes spicy food, guys! Besides, I've already made her real Galahdian food!" He said and I grinned as I kept eating.

"Hey, Nyx, take me to dance!" I called, but he shook his head.

"I don't dance, Atalie-"

"Well, I want to and you have to stay at my side!" I said and stood, grabbing his hand and yanking him to the dancefloor. As I watched the other people dance, I quickly picked up the movements and Nyx helped lead me through the dance, making me laugh. As we danced, I had actual fun and enjoyed my night.

"Come on, the fireworks are going to go off soon!" Nyx called into my ear and I nodded, holding his hand as he led me away from the crowd and to a quiet spot to watch the fireworks.

"Are you cold?" He asked when he noticed my gooseflesh and I nodded, hugging myself.

"Uh, here." He said and handed me a blanket from seemingly nowhere.

"Best to not question it and go with it." He smiled and I nodded, hugging it to my shoulders as we sat on the edge of the building.

"I've had so much fun since I met you, Nyx." I said and he smiled.

"I'm glad." He said then shook his head.

"It's weird. I-I've been doing all this for years, the festival and walking around Insomnia and the Citadel, but with you, it's... Different, like I'm seeing it all for the first time." He said and looked at me.

"I guess I'm having the most fun when I'm with you." I smiled and looked up as I heard the whistling, seeing the bright fireworks as they filled the sky.

"Niflheim is preparing to attack us with the daemons they control!"

"We have no way to predict where they will come from!"

"Even with the Princess' visions, we can't safely protect our people!"

"That's enough, all of you!" Clarus yelled in the war meeting, the council quieting as I eyed them. Thanks to my visions, I always had a seat at the end of the table, Nyx at my side.

"We saw Princess Atalie when she had her last vision, it took too much out of her. We can't force her to provide us with more visions-"

"I can't control them." I cut him off and all eyes turned towards me.

"I don't control when I get visions, I only get them suddenly. There is no forewarning nor is there a button to press." I said and noticed father looked slightly angry. I may have a seat at the table, but I didn't have a voice.

"Well then, we use what we have." Clarus smiled and passed around my latest vision sketches.

"This is what we do know, thanks to her visions."

"This is what we already know! Her visions are useless now, Clarus-"

"And without them, we wouldn't have known to put up the wall with the Crystal! We wouldn't have known about the queen's death, we wouldn't-"

"Yet, every time she has a vision, it is about what is to come. Not what may come, not what we can prevent, always what will come no matter what." Another council member interjected, except Nyx leaned down next to me.

"Princess, the Kingsglaive are requesting you." He whispered and I nodded.

"Please excuse me, everyone. I have something to attend to-"

"More important than this?!" Father asked, but I snorted.

"As if I have an actual say here. Excuse me." I said and stood, leaving the war room.

"What is it, Nyx?" I asked and he smirked.

"Nothing, just thought to get you out of there." He grinned and I rolled my eyes.

"You're a bastard sometimes. It's no wonder I like you." I said and he grinned as we went to the Immigrant District for lunch, as if I had something to attend to there. Not that I did. We just got lunch and sat in his home eating take out. It was very unladylike, but I didn't care.

"I wish my father would take my opinion into mind more." I huffed as I set down my takeout box, making Nyx sigh.

"Well, he's an old fool to not listen to you, Atalie. Your visions are-"

"I prevented one, I changed the outcome just one time." I said and he looked confused, so I told him about how I changed the future of my brother's Crownsguard by forcing him to a particular school to meet a blond.
