Special Chapter I

Kitty's POV

I thought after everything that had happened in the Special force, both of us will stay together. I thought building our own careers together is good. I thought having him beside me means I can grow into a good leader of our crime family. But my thoughts weren't right.

After two years in the service, Gavin and I broke up. I don't know if that will be called maturity but we ended our relationship without a fight. We both agreed to let go. We both agreed to stop everything we have.

We needed to break up to become what we are today. We needed to break up to grow on our own. Sabi ng iba, kung gustong mag-grow, samahan mo. But ours was different, both of us wants to grow on our own. We're like birds who want to soar high into the sky without someone tailing us. Both of us want freedom, freedom from each other's arms.

I wasn't sad nor happy about what happened between us. Siguro minsan nami-miss ko siya, pero hanggang doon lang iyon. Gano'n din naman siya, paminsan-minsan ay tumatawag siya para sabihing nami-miss niya na ako at muli niya na namang papatayin ang tawag.

It was always like that. Even when we're still at the SF unit, he'll go to my room to tell me how much he missed me, then he'll leave after that. A lot of people have been telling us to just get back together, but it isn't the time yet. Maybe when the time comes, magiging kami ulit. Kung pareho pa rin ang aming nararamdaman para sa isa't isa.

We were kinda toxic back then, I was clingy while he's possessive over me. Halos lahat ng pinupuntahan niya, naroon ako. Even if it's mafia-related, I was always clinging to him. At first, it was fine with him but Dorian and Dorian's father reprimanded him for always bringing me along. Nagiging sagabal ako sa mga transaksyon nila.

Sa akin naman, he's very possessive. Kahit kasamahan lang namin sa SF unit o 'di kaya mga tauhan namin sa mafia, pinagseselosan niya. Some people would say, I think it's fine that your boyfriend is possessive, that only means he loves you. Yes, it was fine with me at first. Tinatawanan ko nga lang siya minsan kapag nagseselos siya but umabot na sa puntong muntikan niya nang mapatay ang anak ng Consigliere ng Pedroarias.

I was mad at him for almost killing Jackson, we even fought because of it. Starting that day, I told him not to mind my business. He was my boyfriend, he has the right to mind my business but I was too immature at that time and I wasn't thinking straight.

Kung hinayaan ko lang ba ang ganoong ugali niya, magtatagal pa kami? If I didn't tell him not to mind my business, kami pa rin ba hanggang ngayon?

I don't think so...

It was a toxic relationship and I know a toxic relationship won't last long. We'll eventually break up after how many years. If Gavin and I didn't break up? He won't be the right hand of Dorian today. He won't be the second in command if I stayed clinging onto him. He'll definitely get distracted if I was always there with him.

They said I am not suitable to be our family's boss because I let my boyfriend punched every man in the family. They said I'm not suitable to be a boss because a woman will always be a woman. A woman will always be soft-hearted to her loved ones.

If we didn't break up, I won't be the boss of our crime family. I won't grow into a good leader. Kung siguro kami pa rin, bugbog sarado na ang mga tauhan namin dahil sa selos niya. Noong una naman ay hindi siya nambubogbog but he only got worse day by day.

Today, both of us already achieved our goals. He became a Consigliere and I became the boss of our crime family. Was our breakup worth it?

Our crime families on the other hand-are still on the top. My father, the previous boss? Nagluluksa pa rin sa namatay nilang pag-ibig ni Mom. Si Dorian naman na kasalukuyang boss ng Frey mafia ay nagkaroon ng kambal. A boy and a girl. Both of them got the traits of their parents, the boy has baby blue eyes while the girl has weird eyes. On her left eye, it's baby blue while her left is hazel-green. She looks peculiar!

Ask me why I know something about them. I know something about them because I am one of their godmothers. Winter and Dorian named the two Killian and Snow. Sa araw ng binyang nina Killian at Snow, naroon din si Gavin. Of course, they're his nephew and niece.

"Hey, you good?" I was startled when Warner talked.

"You scared me, you bitch!" Tumawa lang ito sa 'kin at naunang maglakad. I immediately followed him behind. When we reached the cemetery of the fallen heroes, we placed the flowers and candles we brought. "Are you okay?" I asked Warner when he started crying.

"I'm fine, na-miss ko lang silang dalawa."

"It has been five years, Warner. We need to move forward! Look at you. After Drey and Danica died, you retired from the military. Ano bang ginawa mo sa limang taon? Mag-inom?" I harshly asked.

"I want to forget her, Kitty. I want to forget them but my mind can't!" Umiiyak itong humarap sa akin at tinuro ang kaniyang puso. "My heart... my heart can't forget about her, Kitty. Kung sana, ako na lang yung namatay, hindi siguro 'to sasakit."

I walked towards him and I punched him in the face. I punched him really hard that he almost fell to the ground. "Who told you to forget them, Warner?! All you have to do is to accept the reality. They're dead but their memories will always be with us. Nakatatak na sila sa puso't isipan natin, don't forget Danica and Drey... Acceptance, Warner, what you need is acceptance."

"Madali lang sabihin, mahirap gawin," sabi niya bago tumayo nang maayos. "Gano'n din ba ang ginawa mo nang maghiwalay kayo? Tinanggap mo na lang na wala na kayo?"

"It takes time to heal, Warner. Pero 'wag mo namang pabayaan ang sarili mo. About me and Gavin, we both let go of each other." Those are the words I said before leaving him, standing in the middle of the fallen heroes' tombstones.

Papasok ako ng aking sasakyan nang makita kong dumating ang kaniyang sasakyan, nang lumabas siya ay agad siyang napatingin sa gawi ko. Agad akong tumango sa kaniya, gano'n din ang ginawa niya. Pumasok na ako sa loob ng aking sasakyan habang siya naman ang papasok sa loob ng sementeryo.

Now that we finally achieved our goals, now that we finally became the birds who already soared high... will there still be a chance for the both of us?
