"Ash, I'm sure you had a reason to call us together for a meeting, but why not at a normal time?" asked Layla with a raised eyebrow. Of course she was complaining about the early hour, typical Layla.
"Layla, It's nine in the morning. What time do you want to meet otherwise?" asked Piper with a snort.
"I don't know, for lunch?" shrugged Layla with her shoulders and a smirk, to which Piper rolled her eyes.
"Why don't you wait and see what it's about first, then you can complain." then Claire remarked and I nodded thankfully at her.
"How long have you been back?" Emily then asked as she eyed me. We were sitting in a soundproof conference room in the CIA's headquarters. This room is also not video monitored, so perfect for a conversation like this.
"I got back last night," I told her curtly. "Is it safe for you here again?" Claire wanted to know with her eyebrows drawn together. I sat at the head of the table and the four sat to my left and right.
"No." I replied sharply. "There was also a reason I came back early..."
They all looked a little confused and their shock that I was not out of danger was evident in their eyes. "What's so important that you put yourself in danger for this?" asked Layla now, while leaning on her hands.
"You guys." I said, and all four of them stared at me, completely perplexed. "What do you mean, Ash?" asked Emily, confused.
I took a deep breath and let my gaze wander through the group in front of me. "I got these pictures sent to me by someone unknown, but it's definitely a warning." I tossed the ten pictures on the table and all four leaned over curiously.
"Fuck, that's us!" marveled Layla, "Told you. That's why I came back." I nodded seriously.
"Shit, what are we going to do? Was that Kaiden?" asked Piper nervously. "Maybe we should go to Evans and ask him for help."
"No!" I said loudly. "We can't." My eyes flickered back and forth between the four of them, who looked at me like I was an alien. But we can't drag our boss into this.
"Why not? This thing is getting too risky." now Emily said too. "Those two are right. An entire CIA special unit is being threatened now, we can't decide this on our own even if it is about us. What if this someone has more pictures of others too?" threw Claire into the round.
