Chase brought me to the far side of the room where there seemed to be a shooting range. There were a couple of people there, shooting at the targets across the wall.
We walked over to a table that had different varieties of guns laying on it. Chase picked up a small hand gun and checked the ammunition.
"I'll demonstrate how to shoot the gun first, then you can try" Chase said. He stepped up to the shooting line and I followed.
"You want to keep your form loose. Don't be too stiff" Chase told me. "Bend your arms a little and keep them level with your face."
He got into position and raised the gun at the target. "Aim is the most important thing. Keep your eye on the target and don't loose focus."
Chase steadied his arms and shot the gun. He shot point blank right in the middle of the target.
I was amazed. He made it look so easy and effortless. He shot a few more rounds which all hit their mark. His skill was impressive and it mesmerized me each time.
He lowered the gun and turned around. "Your turn."
He handed me the gun and I took it cautiously. "I thought I wasn't going to need to kill anyone" I said.
"You shouldn't have to kill anyone but still, anything could happen" he told me. "You should learn how to shoot a gun for your defense."
I knew that he was right but I didn't like it. I show you know how to use it for my safety, but I didn't want to use it at all.
I stepped up to the shooting line and tried to mimic how Chase had been. I lifted the gun and put it in front of my face.
"Spread your legs more" Chase instructed me. I shifted my feet and spread my legs wider.
"Arms higher." I raised the gun more. My hands were shaking I was so nervous. I tried to calm myself down but I couldn't stop trembling.
I felt him come up from behind me and press their body against mine. "Higher" Chase said. He reached out and lifted my arms up.
My heart started beating rapidly at the feeling of his chest pressed against my back. I hated that he had this affect on me.
"Lossen up a bit" Chase told me. I took a deep breath and tried to shake off my nerves but I still felt stiff.
"I can't" I told him. My hands fumbled around the gun as I tried to get a hold of myself.
I felt Chase lower his hands and put them on my waist. I jerked in surprise as he started to rub his hands up and down my hips. "Chase what are you-"
"Im helping you loosen up" he muttered. He ran his hands along my sides, making me automatically melt against him.
When Chase finally felt me loosen, he removed his hands from my waist and put them on my arms.
He guided them to where he wanted. His face was so close to mine that I felt his breath tickle my cheek. His proximity to me was not helping with my anxiousness.
"Why so nervous?" he whispered in my ear. My stomach erupted in a pit of butterflies at the feeling. He chuckled as he obviously knew what he was doing to me.
He took his hands off of my arms and stepped away from me. I looked at him and he gestured towards the wall. "Give it a go."
I turned back and exhaled a low breath as I focused on the target. I narrowed in on the small red center, gathered up my courage and pulled the trigger.
A loud bang expelled from the gun that seemed to reverberate through me. The bullet shot out and hit the target.
Shooting the gun felt exhilarating. The feeling of the shot ringing in my ears and the vibration ricocheting through my body made me feel like I could do anything.
My shot had hit far off from the target. I got in stance and shot again. I still missed the target a fair bit, but I was getting closer.
"Let me help you" Chase said, coming up from behind me. He resumed the position that we were in before and placed his hands over my hands.
He replaced my fingers with his over the trigger and readjusted our arms. He aimed and the target and pulled the trigger. It hit square in the bullseye.
"Don't jerk when you shoot the gun. It'll mess up your aim" he told me. Chase helped me shoot the gun a couple more times until I was ready to try on my own again.
I raised the gun up and tried to aim. Chase had lifted our arms a bit higher than when I had, so I did the same.
I fired the gun again and again but none of my shots hit the center. I kept going and listened to every critique Chase gave me but I couldn't get it.
I was starting to get frustrated. I was doing everything Chase had told and I still couldn't do it.
"Keep trying" Chase said. I lowered the gun and turned around to face him. "Chase this is pointless. I can't do it."
"Yes you can" he urged as he stepped closer to me. "You're just not believing in yourself."
I groaned and threw my head back. "Well that's hard when I can't even fucking hit the target." I grumbled.
"Just try again Kaitlyn" Chase insisted. "We're not leaving here until you make the shot."
I reluctantly went back to the shooting line. Chase was wasting his time making me do this over and over again. I was never going to get it.
I lifted the gun and shot out at the target. Again I didn't hit the center. I growled in frustration and lowered the gun.
"Kaitlyn your're not trusting in yourself." Chase called from behind me. "Tell yourself you can do this, because you can."
I drew in a deep breath and held up the gun again for what seemed like the millionth time. I focused on the target and mentally gave myself a pep talk.
I can do this. I know I can do this, I just have to believe I am cable of doing it. I have to remember I am not weak, and I won't give up.
I fixated on target, making sure I had the perfect aim. Then I shot.
The bullet went right into the bullseye. I stared at the wall, both in shock and excitement.
"Holy crap I did it" I shrieked eagerly. I spun around to see Chase smiling at me.
I realized it was the first time I had seen a smile from him that looked real. All the other times were his evil grins or smirks, but this actually looked genuinely happy.
"What did I tell you. Your're a natural" he teased. "Yeah sure. I'm a natural after trying a thousand times" I laughed.
He chuckled and took the gun from me, placing it back on the table. "I think that's enough training for today" he said.
I nodded my head. Fighting with him had really worn me out and this was just as tiring. I was exhausted from today and all I really wanted to do was rest.
...
Chase took us back to the mansion where I immediately crashed even though we hadn't had dinner yet. I wasn't hungry and didn't have the energy to eat.
The training didn't go as horribly as it could've but I still didn't feel ready for Thursday. Even though Chase said we'd continue where we left off tomorrow, we only had one more day and I didn't like that it was getting close.
I kept worrying about what could happen on the mission. I could get hurt, Chase could get hurt, Ivy and Alyssa could get hurt. Hell I was even worried about Hayes and Ryker.
I tried to clear these thoughts in my head and go to sleep. I didn't want another thing haunting my dreams tonight.
