The drive back was excruciatingly difficult. I thought the car ride to headquarters was bad but this was so much worse.

Just thinking about how close I was to being back in bed and able to sleep was painful. I wanted to get there now and this drive seemed longer than it should have.

But as I kept thinking about it, I didn't know if I would even sleep. All I wanted to do was shut my eyes but the fear of drifting into those nightmares again still haunted me.

When we got back to the mansion, I realized it was dark outside. I hadn't noticed how long we stayed at the meeting.

I got out of the car and stood on shaky legs. I was so tired I didn't think I would make it into the house without falling asleep on the driveway.

Chase got out of the car and a shocked look crossed his face when he saw me. "You look like your going to pass out" he said while grabbing my arm for support. I gladly leaned my body against him.

"Can you even walk?" he asked. "I think so" I said. He let go of my arm as I took a few steps forward. I stumbled, causing me to fall foward. I put out my arms as I braced myself for impact but before I could hit the ground, I felt steady arms catch me.

Chase steadied me so I was back on my feet. I had to hold on to his arms to keep me balanced. "God, I told you that you should've slept last night" he snapped at me.

I held in a retort as it would probably not do any good. Chase sighed frustratingly before he gripped my waist and lifted me up.

I shrieked as I instinctively wrapped my legs around his torso and flung my arms around his neck. "Chase what are you doing! hi?" I asked in bewilderment.

He started to carry me up the porch stairs and into the house. "Well you can't walk can you" he growled. He obviously didn't like that he had to do this.

He carried me through the house and up the stairs. I leaned my head against his shoulder and closed my eyes. He smelled like cologne

"Oh no you don't" Chase said. He shrugged his shoulder which made me lift my head up. "You are not falling asleep on me."

He went into our room and placed me on the bed. I immediately got under the covers and curled up. I heard Chase take off his shirt and come into bed.

I was more than exhausted but I couldn't help but think that if I fell asleep again, I would have nightmares. I tried to not think about it, hoping that I would drift off sooner or later.

Half an hour later I still hadn't fallen asleep. I'm surprised I lasted this long since I expected I'd pass out by now.

I was trying to go to sleep and I thought my already tired state would help it, but everytime I was about to drift off, I would catch a glimpse of that man's stare again and instantly become awake again.

I tried clearing my head of those thoughts but my fear was just too big. How would I be able to survive tomorrow with no sleep if I barely survived today?

I tossed and turned in bed, trying to rid myself of my now incoming headache. "Kaitlyn why aren't you fucking asleep already?" Chase groaned.

I hadn't known that he was still awake. "I can't go to sleep" I told him. "Kaitlyn you could barely even move before. Why can't you just go to sleep?" Chase said annoyed.

"I'm trying" I said as I rubbed my eyes. "I just can't" I told him. Chase grumbled in annoyance. "Kaitlyn go the fuck to sleep" he ordered me. "I don't want you to be a tired wreck again tomorrow."

"I told you Chase, I'm trying" I snapped at him.

I heard him groan frustratingly as he ran his hands down his face. I turned away from him and pulled the blanket around me. He could be as mad as he wanted but his anger wouldn't help me either way.
