Daniel and Emily were so grateful for being able to spend almost a whole day at their home. They left the hospital kind of early, giving them the rest of the day to relax in the comforts of their own home. It was now night time and Emily was relaxing on the couch waiting patiently while Daniel was in the kitchen trying to whip up some concoction of a dinner.

"How's it coming along?" Emily yelled from the living room.

Daniel was in the kitchen trying to put out a fire that had just started on one of the stove's burners. "Uh," Daniel murmured as he pours a full glass of water on the stove and the kitchen is filled with sizzles.

Emily sniffs around her. "Um, Honey, something smells like its," She sniffs again and turns to look in the kitchen. "Burning."

Daniel panicked and yelled at Ems, "Hey, no looking!" Emily questioningly looks away.

"Ok, but my instincts tell me that something is definitely burning." She says laughing. "If you need help I can always help." She says sing-song like.

"Absolutely not Emily. You are still recovering. And," he looks from Emily to the stove. "I've got this under control." He eyes the burning turkey burger in the pan and wonders if it was salvageable. He decides not and walks over to the trash can with the pan. With the flick of his wrist he tosses the charred burger into the trash.

After about fifteen minutes of smoke filling the air and Emily laughing at the way Daniel was muttering under his breathe, Daniel throws a half melted spatula into the sink. He waltzes over to where Emily sits, propped up against the arm of the couch.

"So," He started off and Emily just laughed. "What do you think about ordering Chinese tonight?" Emily just erupted in laughter.

"You know, I was up for Chinese in the first place but someone," She tapped Daniel's chest, "Wanted a 'home-cooked meal.' As I remember."  Daniel chuckled.

"Ah, you always know best don't you?" He kisses Emily then stands and places an order for two over the phone.

40 minutes Later

Daniel and Emily sit slouched on the couch. They had both eaten until noodles were coming out of their ears, and now they both were regretting it. They sat on the couch in silence until they were both ready to move around. Daniel sits up and burps real loud. He straightens up and looks back to Emily, who was staring at him. "Excuse me?" Daniel said. Emily just giggled.

"Well, compliments to the chef, wherever he may be." Emily said and sat up next to Daniel. "Thank you for dinner. Even though it wasn't home-cooked it was absolutely delicious." She leaned against Daniel's arm thinking about all of the events that occurred over the last few weeks. Emily looked up to Daniel and he looked as if he was lost in his own thoughts. "What're you thinking about?"

He straightened up and looked to Emily. He exhaled deeply. "Wanna sit outside for a second?" Emily looked nervous.

"Sure." She said.

Daniel helped Emily stand up and held her arm as they walked outside. They reached the porch swing and sat down causing it to rock a little. They sat in silence listening to the waves crash upon the sand in the distance and the tall grasses rustle together as the wind blows. The two of them were both experiencing different emotions. Emily was anxious and nervous while Daniel was scared and heart broken. After a long period of silence Emily speaks up.

"Daniel, you're actions and all this quietness," She cups Daniel's chin in her hand and turns his face towards her. "It's starting to make me worry." Daniel moves his chin from her hand and puts his hand on her leg.
