Daniel's POV

It's already been one hour and a half. A doctor kept coming into the waiting room and updating me on how the surgery was going. They said that no complications have arised yet but her heart rate did drop a few times but that it was nothing to worry about; because not long after her heart rate rose again. That was about 20 minutes ago.

I was sitting here just starring at the clock and slowly dozing off when Charlotte tapped my shoulder.

"Daniel I brought you some clothes. So you can finally change out of those. You have blood all over your pants."

I looked down and sure enough there was a circle of blood on my right pant leg and blood on the cuffs of my dress shirt.

"oh..I-I didn't even notice it."  I remembered the moment that I cradled Emily's head in my lap the night I hit her. The sight of her lying there looking...dead. I shook the memory out of my head.

"Thank you Char." I got up and walked into the bathroom to change. I changed and washed my face with cold water trying to wake myself up. It had been about 10 minutes and I walked out of the bathroom to see a nurse talking to Charlotte and Jack. Declan was behind them sleeping on a chair. I hurriedly walked over to see what she was saying. As I got closer I could see the tears welling up in Char's eyes. And Jack had his hand to his head.

"W-what happened? What's going on?"

"Mr. Grayson first off just know that your wife is ok-"

"Then what's going on?!"

"I just wanted to inform you on what we had to do. Mrs. Thorne stopped breathing. We tried CPR and the bag but neither worked. We found that her throat had swelled and closed that is why CPR and the bag didn't work. So we had to trach her. I just wanted to let you know for when you see her; so that its not a shock. She will have 2 tubes coming from her throat. They are helping her breath and keeping her alive at the moment. She should be out of the surgery in about 20 minutes."

I was speechless so Jack answered for me. "Ok, thank you."

I sat down. I still felt so much guilt knowing that I...me!!...has caused so much hurt, pain and complications to Emily. I just wished this was a dream and I could wake up any moment. Not drunk but lying next to my beautiful fianceè.

It has been about 30 minutes since the nurse came out and I saw the operation doors open and several doctors wheeling emily's bed out and down the hall. She, as the doctor had said, had two blue tubes running from a machine into her throat. Keeping her alive. The doctor approached me.

"Mrs. Thorne did wonderful! the surgery went well except for the tracheostomy but she will wake up and immediately have all functions back. She will be the Mrs. Thorne that you know."

"Thank you so much." I said shaking his hand.

"No problem. I'm glad I could help. She will be in the recovery room 205. Oh and before I forget when she wakes up she might try to talk she cant because of the trach. So just let her know. And after the trach is removed she wont be able to talk for a day or two. And again," he said shaking my hand, "glad I could help."" he walked away and I jogged down the halls looking for room 205. I found it and opened the door. When I walked in I saw her beautiful face. She looked the same as always. How did she always look this beautiful? Even after a surgery.

I walked over to her bed, climbed onto it and cuddled up next to her like a toddler does to his parents on a stormy night. And I slept. I slept peacefully because Ems...she was going to be fine. Because she was a fighter.
