ok so this chapter is going to switch POV's kind of a lot :P but I hope you enjoy :D

Emily's POV

I woke up with a start...my head...? It-it feels....fuzzy? What happened? I tried my best to think back and figure out what had happened to me but for the life of me...I just couldn't. I tried to open my eyes but my eyelids were so heavy. They felt like weights had been placed on them. I wiggled my toes and fingers. They all seemed to be fine but...was someone holding my left hand? I moved it once against and could definitely feel the tight grip of someone, so I squeezed back lightly. I tilted my head to the left to see. AHHHHH OWW!! The sharpest pain shot through the right side of my head. I screamed out in agony, also hoping that someone would hear me and tell me what the heck was going on. And why was my head feeling like it was being skewered?

Daniel's POV

I was sleeping so peacefully. Honestly, the best sleep I've had in awhile. But my sleep was disturbed when something in my hand moved. Was Emily coming to?! I jerked my head up just in time to see her wiggling her toes and fingers. Then she seemed to squeeze my hand, ever so softly, back. I smiled widely because I knew deep down inside that Ems is a fighter. But then I felt great sorrow for her when her eyebrows started to furrow together. Her brow became wrinkled with what looked like...fear? It looked like she was struggling. Her head fell to the left and suddenly her face contorted and she screamed out in pain. I shot up and ran out of the room yelling, "My fianceè! She's awake but in a lot of pain! Please help her!"

Immediately four nurses came running into the room. One nurse ran over to a drawer and pulled out a syringe with clear liquid in it. She rushed over to Emily and put the syringe into one of the IV tubes and started to push the liquid out.

"

Wait! What are you giving her?"

The nurse glanced up briefly. "It's morphine. It'll help keep the pain down."

I walked over to Emily's side as her eyelids began to flicker. I saw two tears stream down her beautifully shaped cheeks and was deeply saddened. I just wanted to make her better. I'd do anything for Ems not to be in pain.

"It looks as though she should be waking up soon." One said as three of them walked out leaving a nurse who was checking her vitals, me and a half drugged Emily. The nurse left not long after the others. Now it was just the two of us.

Emily's POV

The pain suddenly lessened and my eyelids became lighter and lighter until I could fully open them. What I saw before me was the best thing anyone could see when they first awake; my amazing husband. He was smiling down at me with a content look. I'm glad he's here to comfort me.

"Oh, I'm si...o...glaf...? Glag? Glat?"

Daniel looked at me with a worried look.

"Gl-glaf!!!?? Hel...H-h-help me-e....Dan...Dan-oh-l..." I burst into tears...What was wrong with me?! I couldn't even speak!

"Here maybe you just need some water." Daniel said with a hopeful look in his eyes. He handed me a small cup. I grab it with my left hand but my hand...it felt weak and numb..? Suddenly, my hand gave way and I dropped the cup. Water splattered all over the floor. I tried to say sorry but my words were all jumbled and slurred. Daniel then got really worried and said that he'd be back with a doctor. He rushed out and came back with a man in his 30's wearing a white lab coat and had a stethoscope slung around his neck.

Minutes Later

"Ok, so I hear you're having some problems speaking and grasping things." he pulled out a pen like object and clicked it making the end shine like a mini flashlight. "Well, lets have a look." He then shined the dull light into my eyes.

"Well, your pupils seem to be dilated but that's to be expected. You had a serious concussion Mrs. Thorne. I don't see, to see anything wrong." he said taking one more look. "Do you remember anything?"

I thought long and hard...then it all came back to me. My 'amazing' husband was drunk and hit me. I looked to Daniel. It was as if he knew what I was thinking and he gave me an apologetic and regretful look. So I decided I wouldn't say anything.

"Mrs. Thorne?"

The doctor broke my thoughts and I looked back at him and just shook my head 'no'.

"Well, I can't say for sure but with your symptoms it does seem like you have a slight form of damage to the brain...uh, of some sort. We'll do a brain scan to see what's going on, ok? I'm going to send in a doctor who will run some language tests and comprehensive tests on you alright Mrs. Thorne?" I nodded.

Emily's POV

"Alright, Mrs. Thorne, I am going to write down some words on this board and if you know what it says and means I want you to nod and if not then shake your head. If you know what the word is then I want you to try your best and say it out loud. Ok?" I nodded. "Ok lets begin."

She wrote in capital letters: LOVE

I nodded and tried my best to say it. "Luh...luh-" I paused and tried again. "luh-uhb." I sounded like a toddler learning to speak! I shook my head in dissapoinment.

She wrote a new word: GLAD "Alright now I know you had trouble with this earlier but lets give it another try."

I nodded, "gluh...at...gluh-at."

"Ok, now can you try to put the sounds together?"

"Gl-uh-at...glat." I almost cried. Why was this so hard? We continued this 'game' with several more words like sad, laugh, happy, hope and so on.

"Alright Mrs. Thorne now this time I am going to lie 4 cards out in front of you. I want you to put them in order so that they make a story." She put a wooden board on my lap and 4 cards that had pictures on them. The first was a mom and her son making a kite. The second was the mom buying the kite. The third was the mother and son flying the kite and the fourth was the mother giving the son the kite.

This was easy. I arranged the cards and put them in order. Second picture, fourth picture, first picture and then the third. The doctor smiled at me with delight. I could tell she was happy, so I smiled back.

"Ok, Mr. Grayson, Emily seems to have comprehension skills but no language skills." She looked at me with compassion. Then she had the look of an idea. "Here let me see something." She walked over to the corner of the room and grabbed a cup. "Mrs. Thorne, I want you to grab this cup from me with your right hand." I reached out and grabbed the cup. It was so simple. As if I were lifting air. I held it in my hand until she took it back.

"Mrs. Thorne, now try with your left hand." I tried to reach for the cup but there seemed to be two of them...or were there three? I grabbed the one that seemed to be it but I missed and grabbed air instead. I looked up to see the doctor with a questioning look and Daniel worried sick. I tried again but to no avail; I still grabbed air. I looked up and tried to speak, "Bu-ut... I Do-oh-nt...un-der-stah-hn-t." I gave the sentence my best and it worked pretty well.

"Uhh...Its ok. Once you get the scan's we should see what the problem is." She said trying to be reassuring but there was something in her eyes that worried me. She shook my hand. "I hope everything works out ok for the two of you. Have a good day." Then she left us alone.

I immediately started to cry. I was hyperventilating and Daniel wrapped me into a big hug and said, "I am SO sorry Ems...So sorry."

I contained my tears for a moment and asked, "Do-oo....yuh-oo..." I let a tear escape and continued. "sti-ill....luh-uhb...me-hee?" I mean, who would love someone with possible brain damage and certain disability? I was holding back my tears and making small groans when I heard the answer I needed.

"I will always love you. Infinity times infinity."
