No One's POV

Emily was in a deep sleep when she heard a pound from downstairs. She shot up out of bed. Emily sat there half asleep but fully alert , straining her ears trying to listen for anything else. She would have woken Daniel up but he wasn't by her side. He had told her earlier that he would be at work till the next day. Emily slowly got out of bed and placed her feet quietly on the floor, glancing at the clock before taking another step, it read 3:33. She snuck over to her dresser and quietly opened her top drawer and dug around until she felt the handle of her gun. She grabbed it out and slowly cocked it, trying not to make too much noise. Just as Emily took another step she heard a groan and then heavy walking. She walked over to the top of the stairs and peeked over the banaster. As she lifted her gun she saw the sillohette of a heavy built man. Slowly, Emily flipped on the light and saw Daniel, his eyes squinting from the brightness. She sighed and put the gun down.

"Daniel, what are you doing? You almost gave me a heart attack."

He looked up at her with bloodshot eyes. "S-sorrrrry....i-i was just trying to be a good husband...and come home as soon as possible..." all of his words were slurred, as he took a step towards the stairs.

Emily looked at him with a disgust. "You've been drinking again haven't you?" She rushed down the stairs and stood next to him. She could immediatley smell the alcohol all over his breath. "Daniel, I...I'm just so dissapointed. You went months without drinking. What happened today? Where were you?"

He looked up and his eyebrows immediately furrowed. "What? A man can't go out and have fun every once in awhile!? HUH?! Why are you so set on me not drinking!" he started to pace back and forth with his hand on the back of his head. "You know...you worry too much, ok. I'm tired of you always having to keep tabs on me! You're SO overprotective! And sometimes it just feels like you're breathing down my neck! It's like you have me on a leash or something!!" He yelled so loud that Emily actually stumbled and took a step back. She was shocked at his outrage.

"Oh ya well that's being a good husband, huh? Going out and drinking so much that you come home drunk and mad! Well at least I know how to show care for you!" She turned around and started to walk up the stairs.  Before taking a third step she turned back to face Daniel. "You know what...ugh I'll just see you tomorrow Daniel." And with that she sighed loudly and continued walking. She was suddenly stopped by Daniel grabbing her wrist.

Daniel yanked Emily around. "Hey! You dont get to talk to me like that!! You better respect me you.." Daniel never finished his sentence. He used full force and slapped Emily across the face so hard that she flew into the banaster.

Emily immediately felt the pain. It was sharp and felt like someone was stabbing her head repeatedly. She put her hand up to her face. Something wet and thick met her fingertips. She looked at her hand and saw blood all over it, then she started to see small round red dots appear on the floor. Her own blood started to soak the carpet. She tried to stand but her head was spinning so fast that she just fell right back down. She glared at Daniel, who was now staring at her blankly like he had no clue what was going on.

"You're sleeping...on the couch." She said out of breathe. "I'll see you tomorrow Daniel."

Emily slowly stood again, this time holding onto the banaster for support. As she leaned her full body weight on the rail she inched her way to the bedroom and when the rail ran out she used the walls for support. She walked over to her dresser and placed the gun back in its place. Walking into the bathroom, she turned on the light and inspected the damage that was done. Her head had a deep gash and there was blood dripping all down the right side of her face. She didn't have the strength to clean it tonight so she figured she would leave it for tomorrow. She was slowly making her way to the bed, holding onto everything around her, when her vision went spotty and her head began to spin. She tried to make it but her eyes rolled back and she landed hard on the floor.

Daniel's P.O.V.

Ugh, why does Ems get so frustrated over things like this. I just really needed those drinks. I went to the closet under the stairs and pulled out the guest pillows and blanket. I was setting up my 'bed' on the couch when I heard a loud pound from upstairs. There she goes. Slamming things around. Ugh, I'll have to talk to her tomorrow. I suppose an apology is expected. I then lied down.

I was flopping and turning all over the couch. Tryng to get comfortable. 4:21 already? Uggggh, why cant I just get some sleep! I lied there for a few moments. I was kept up by this uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. What is it?!  I thought for a long hard while. Ems!!

I though that maybe something was wrong with Emily. I did hit her pretty hard but...she wasnt bleeding. Was she?  I was walking up the stairs when I saw various sizes of drops of blood on the carpet. Dang it!  I ran up the stairs and straight into my room. It was still dark so I fumbled for the light switch. Finally, I found it and quickly flicked it on.

There she was. The woman of my dreams and whom I loved, lying on the floor unconscious with blood flowing from her cut, into her hair and onto the floor. I panicked. I didn't know what to do. I had caused this to her. My sweet Emily! I ran to the night stand and grabbed the phone. Immediately, I dialed 911 and waited while it rang.

911 please state your emergency.

"Please my fianceè she's unconscious. You need to help her!"

Ok, Sir. Help, me understand the situation.

"She fell and hit her head. There...there's blood...e-everywhere. Just please hurry and get here!"

Alright, Sir. I have dispatched an ambulance they're on their way now. How long has she been unconscious?

"Uh...ummm I-I don't know. maybe an hour...maybe even more I just found her."

Ok, Sir I need you to make sure that she's breathing. And tell me if you feel a pulse.

"Yes, she's breathing but really shallow and...sharp."

And her pulse?

"Ummm....i-i dont know I mean I feel it but barely. It's really faint I guess."

Ok. Now I need you to cradle her head and try to get her to wake up.

I did exactly as the operator instructed. I gently lifted Ems head up and shook her. Trying to get her to open her eyes. I even called her name a few times. But nothing.

The ambulance was close by when they got the alert so they should be there any time now. I'm going to hang up now. And Sir...? I hope hour fianceè is ok.

"Alright thank you." I listened then said. "Ok I think hear the ambulance...bye." I quickly hung up as the paramedics knocked on the door. I laid Emily's head back on the bloody floor and ran downstairs and let the paramedics in, telling them to follow me. I lead them up the stairs and into the room where Emily lied limp.

There were two paramedics. One of the paramedics immediately started hooking Ems up to IV's and all these clear wires while the other was checking and writing down her pulse and blood pressure. They gently lifted her onto the gerny and carried her down the stairs and into the ambulance.

"Can I please ride along?!"

"Are you family?"

"Ya, her fianceè." I said as if it was obvious.

"Alright Sir, hop in."

The ride felt like forever. Were we ever going to reach the hospital? I just prayed and hoped that Ems would wake up and be fine.
