Taka didn't often feel romantic attraction to others. And when he did, it never ended well. And when he didn't, it never ended well. Nothing really ended well with Taka but relationships were definitely one of the extremes. You see, he would get excited if anyone showed any interest in him due to bullying and not having many friends. So of course people used that to their advantage. They would go up to him and confess their love, and Taka, of course, would be shocked but overall happy. Actually, that was a lie. If any girl went up to him and said they liked him, he wouldn't be bothered and just be kind and say he wasn't interested in her that way. But if a guy ever came up to him, he would not have reacted the same and was excited and would have accepted.
And that's when the downfall arrived.
There would be laughter.
And mockery.
And jokes.
Laughing that Taka actually believed someone would love him.
And then run away, leaving him miserable.
It kept happening.
At first he kept being fooled by it, but over time, he learned.
And he slowly started to stop accepting the confessions.
Then he arrived at Hope's Peak Academy.
Where he expected everything to change.
And he was right.
He made his first friend.
He didn't expect it to be the fierce, aggressive, violent biker gang leader Mondo.
But, they became friends nonetheless.
And Taka was pretty sure he developed a crush on him.
But he obviously didn't tell him.
They actually trauma bonded.
So Taka told him about the bullying he would receive.
Like the fake love confessions.
And Mondo promised he wouldn't let anyone hurt him like that again.
So Taka was pretty shocked with the way he came up to him one day.
He walked up to Taka and shouted, "Taka! I like ya! More than a friend, I'm in love with ya!"
But Taka awkwardly laughed.
Then he turned away and walked off.
And then when he was out of sight he ran off.
Into his dorm room where he sobbed for ages.
He never expected his best friend to use the one joke that followed him forever to make sure it returned to him.
He couldn't believe it.
He was now just assuming that Mondo faked their whole relationship the second he heard Taka's past just so he could use it against him.
He jumped and stopped sobbing when there was a knock on his door.
He opened it to see a guilty looking Mondo.
"Taka! I'm so sorry! I should've said I wasn' makin' one of those sick jokes! I promise!" Mondo said sadly.
"I promise ya, I really truly love ya, I promise," Mondo said, reaching out his hand to take Taka's into them.
"Do you really mean it?" Taka asked happily.
"Of course I do! I love ya so much! I wanna make ya the happiest person in the planet cuz fuck ya deserve it! I know it's cheesy but it's the truth," Mondo said grinning.
Taka cried again.
Then hugged Mondo.
Maybe things wouldn't always not end well, maybe he did finally get his happy ending.
