October 29th, two days before one of my favourite days in the year and ultimately closer to ending my deal with Weasley.
As I sat in the Great Hall I groaned at the lack of decorations throughout the school. I understand that they are wizards and could probably put decorations up quicker than I could eat the plate of breakfast in front of me. But, it just seemed rather sad to not celebrate a couple of days before. Then again, the ghost decorations would probably give Potter night terrors and Dumbledore couldn't take that risk.
I ate my breakfast glumly until Dumbledore stepped on stage and my bad mood intensified. I wouldn't say I hated the man, but I would say I had a huge disliking towards him. I mean the fact that he likes the Golden Trio is enough of a reason, but his disfavour towards Slytherins is also a rather huge motive.
"Good evening everyone. I hope you've had a good day and an applause to the sixth years that did splendidly in their reports" he said as the others began to clap lazily "Lovely, well I wanted to address you all as a group to tell you that we will be holding a Halloween style ball on the 31st"
I looked towards my friends in glee. Not only did this mean dress shopping, dancing and dates, this meant an after party and they were even better than the actual thing. Alcohol, drugs and regrettable sex - which I must say wasn't ideal, but it happens.
"Does that mean dress shopping?!" Tracey shouted, clasping her hands together in delight.
"I think it does Trace" Pansy smiled as I reflected her good mood.
"We can buy them at Hogsmeade this weekend" I suggested as Tracey grinned. Not many Slytherins were able to experience balls like this, especially those who had pure-blood supremacist parents. Tracey and I were always each others partner to the idiotic dances our parents planned to cover up the fact that they were death eaters - or that's what Tracey and I think.
But those dances were nothing like the ones at Hogwarts - in fact it was probably one of the only things that was better at school than home. I felt a lot more care free at school and it meant I could dress a lot more wild, without as many old perverts watching me.
"Definitely" Millicent nodded as we laughed.
"Does this mean we have to get dates?" Pansy smiled, sneaking a glance towards Draco which I caught.
I looked towards Tracey in hopes of her sharing the look. But, instead she was looking straight at Cedric and my shoulders dropped. No, I mustn't be the jealous friend.
"Are we still going to go with each other?" I asked as she forced her eyes from the Hufflepuff boy.
"Oh w-well I have," she stuttered clearly indicating her answer "well I have Cedric this year and you know it would be nice to go with him"
"Yep. No problem" I sent her a tight lipped smile as her cheeks slightly coated in a red colour. Guess we weren't always each others partners anymore.
I sighed, jealousy seeping from my lips. Maybe I should find someone? Draco, no. Too up tight and normally on drugs so he can't really hold a long sentence. Theo, definitely not. Over confident and would most certainly leave me for another girl half way through the ball. Blaise, could be a potential partner. He may be quiet but maybe that's just what I need.
Or maybe I needed someone that wasn't from Slytherin at all.
"Hey Trace," I said as she looked towards me "shall we go and say hello to Diggory?"
"Oh yeah! I can ask him to the ball" she nodded as we lifted from the Slytherin table and walked towards Cedric, whom was making very questionable eye contact with Tracey.
