a moment in time

"Oh Ronald you do make my life difficult, you know that?" she tutted, staring out of the window as she watched Ginny fly about on one of the old brooms, Hermione sitting against the magnolia tree reading alongside her.

"Mum-"

After Harry and Ginny's Birthday having just passed, it wasn't bloody easy trying to convince mum to let me invite Flo round for her Birthday. And, although I definitely agreed with it being a pain in the arse to arrange, I also knew how much it would mean to Flo so for that reason I continued bugging mum at any given time (even participating in extra chores just to get on her good side).

Albeit, with her being mum's favourite as of lately (having visited a couple of times since summer began), I was already starting off on a good foot and I truly believed that she would agree soon.

"Just...just let me talk to your dad, okay? I've had enough of you only asking me and not your bloody father, he's never the one getting asked all these questions"

"Okay, thank you mum. I'm sorry to keep asking, I promise I won't speak on it again" I replied delicately, giving her a weak smile as I turned to walk out of the living room, receiving a small one in return.

"Oh and Ronald," I turned to peer over my shoulder, looking back at her as she tapped her ring finger across the window sill "If, and I mean if , I do say yes you have to promise me no more rides in the Ford. Your dad's blood pressure can't handle any more stress from your rendezvous' with Flo"

It seemed to be a running joke now, mostly for the twins, about me stealing the car to take Flo out for a ride. Saying that I only took her out for a quickie in the back and that they'd even seen a stray sock in there last time they drove over to Hogsmeade. Of course, that couldn't be further from the truth. Dad however, took it extremely seriously and promised me that if he ever caught me in there again late at night then he would personally ship me off to Romania with Charlie.

For now though, there was no chance of seeing Flo (or even getting a spot in the Ford) if I didn't actually plan a party. So, without wasting another second and annoying mum any further, I made my way up to my bedroom to both read and reply to a letter I only just received this morning.

"Jesus christ" I muttered under my breath, the mere experience of reading Tracey's letter actually causing me to feel tired at only midday and leaving me wondering how exactly Flo dealt with this every day when we were at school

"Jesus christ" I muttered under my breath, the mere experience of reading Tracey's letter actually causing me to feel tired at only midday and leaving me wondering how exactly Flo dealt with this every day when we were at school.

Though my train of thought was quickly disrupted when I remembered what exactly I was to be thinking of. Flo's Birthday. Tracey was right when she said that Flo loved Halloween and anything dressing up, but with my budget and terrible planning skills I'm not sure how exactly I was expected to do this.

Maybe I needed experience closer to home, people who were good at planning parties and were able to make said parties more memorable than some Quidditch cups. Unfortunately for me, however, these people also took great pride in flaunting their 'experiences' and were known to charge for their services too. Worth a chance though.

"You two in there?" I knocked, hoping they had heard me over all of the noise coming from under the door.

"Give me a second" George called out in reply, the noise slowly dissipating as the door knob span and he poked his head from out of the door. "Brother, what a treat seeing you here!"

Ignoring his sarcasm, I let my curiosity take over for a second. "Yes yes, it's good to see you too. What exactly are you doing in there?" He smiled, resting the door even closer to him as I tried to take a peek. "It better not piss mum off, I've just got on her good side"

"Ronnie, when have any of our projects ever not pissed mum off? I mean, we literally made her a vase with undying flowers, especially for Mother's day, and she still complained that it brought the wasps in!" I heard Fred laugh from inside their room, a clang and a whisper of 'shit' soon after.

"Okay, okay, touche" George smirked, now leaning up against the doorframe "Well, I'll let you get on with whatever you're doing in a second, but I first wanted to ask whether you'd help me with Flo's Birthday before I leave. Tracey has already sorted the theme, but I need help putting it into place. And I know you two pride yourself on being the best planners of the century"

Suddenly, Fred's footsteps could be heard running to the door where both George and I stood. Another bang following behind him as mum's shout echoed through the halls and Fred pled innocence.

"You want our help little brother?" he grinned breathlessly, an unsettling glint in his eye that almost made me jump ship immediately and leave the planning in my hands - maybe move to Cornwall to ask Tracey to sort everything out for me.

"Yes...but now I'm not so sure" they shared a look, one that only furthered my concern "And if you're going to ask me to pay then you can both forget it, I'm already broke enough as it is after buying her present" I huffed.

"Payment? You make us sound unethical!" Fred laughed, the two of them smiling amongst themselves. "Yeah, we would never make you pay. Plus we actually like Flo, she doesn't deserve that"

"Well, there's definitely going to be a catch later on, but I don't have time to doubt either of you so I'll give you two the benefit of the doubt" I sighed, trying to keep Flo on my mind instead of the many frightening possibilities that the twins could make come true. "The theme is Halloween so I guess that's just Tracey's way of saying dressing up, and I was hoping that maybe you could do invitations - spruce it up like you normally do"

"Fine, but we're only doing this for Flo. You know that don't you?" George teased, Fred quickly adding that it was also for Tracey and the business, taking no shame in then suggesting they put their logo on the envelopes.

"Right, well I trust you both," (doubtfully) "so I'll let you do your thing and I'll send Tracey your love" I turned around, beginning to walk down the stairs as I heard them shout down that I also needed to let Tracey know that they were helping and deserved a gift from her - as if they hadn't just promised that they weren't unethical.

I sighed, opening my bedroom door as I unrolled a sheet of parchment, only after giving Tracey's owl a treat - the bloody thing nearly as talkative as her.

I dipped my quill into my ink and began writing back to her.

It seemed the party was on, for the most part, and I couldn't wait to see Flo's face when she found out that I had created yet another event for her to make a costume for
