loving him was red

*smut warning*

I had always placed myself as a Halloween person.

No singing around a cake, awkward present-receiving faces or pretending to have fun in your family house.

That was of course before I met him.

The person who loved everyone crowded around him singing, loved seeing what everyone thought he would want as a gift and especially enjoyed spending even more time with his family.

We were exact opposites, yet I had been excited for his Birthday before he had even realised it was February. And for his present, well I had been planning that for even longer. Even if we had engaged in at least five hundred arguments since then.

Pansy and I had visited Hogsmeade together at least three times before we decided on what I should get him, and even then I was wondering whether it was cheesy or not. But we did it, and everyone seemed to approve of the gift.

Since meeting him I had realised that maybe Birthday's weren't so bad.

"I have something to ask you," he spoke, both of us cramped behind the greenhouse as I took a drag of my cigarette.

Ron had tried to keep me inside when I suggested going to the smoke spot as he complained that it was way too cold to be going anywhere, but I had insisted and he wasn't about to disagree with me.

"Is it something to do with you turning eighteen tomorrow?" I smiled, doing a slight shimmy in excitement (and also because Ron was right about it being freezing fucking cold).

"Could be," he grinned.

"Oh how old you are Ronnie. I can almost remember the first time I met you, all small and...cute"

"Shut up, I was not small and cute. You literally met me last year" he grumbled as I continued to smile at him.

"You've done a lot of growing since then, what can I say"

"Right, moving on"

"Ah yes, go on then Birthday boy, please do tell me what exactly what you wanted to ask me"

"Well I did want to ask you to come back to the Burrow for a Birthday weekend thing my mum has insisted on. But I'm not so sure now" he spoke, a hint of attitude in his words - which did the opposite of what I think he was expecting.

"Hold on, your mum doesn't mind me coming back?!" I asked in shock.

It wasn't that I didn't get on with Mrs. Weasley or anything like that, because after we recovered from the initial awkwardness of our introduction I think I actually started to like the woman. My worry was that after Ron and I stayed in bed till late afternoon and ate basically all of the biscuits she had prepared the night before she would hate the influence I had on him.

"Wait, I just said I wasn't sure about your invite, why are yo-"

"Because I know you'll want me there," he cocked his brow "I mean, who else would give you the best present there?"

"Well it depends what the present is,"

"You'll have to find out tomorrow, but I promise you it's good. Took me nearly a whole month to find" I smiled, throwing the cigarette down on the ground and putting it out with my foot.

"A whole month?" he mocked.

"Oh piss off, you'll absolutely love them"

"Bet I will. Can't wait to see you beating everyone else at gift giving tomorrow, it'll be a good introduction into the family"
