The 17th had finally rolled around. And, after Tracey bugging us all to plan her Birthday, Cedric finally being able to smell through more than one nostril and the theme finally being decided.

The party was on.

After days of planning (that felt like months) with everyone, Ron was the one who had actually suggested the theme we landed on - and he even seemed to be excited about his future outfit I had 'forced' him to wear. Cedric had landed on a couple of sex decorations, including penis solo cups, very abstract looking balloons that Potter would probably mistake for something a lot more sinister if he hadn't been wearing his glasses. And...the cherry on top of the cake, was that of a pin the penis on 'Danny Zuko' which was originally going to be Cedric, but after a strong conversation about no one wanting to see that we landed on Tracey's other crush instead.

Decorating hadn't started in the common room yet, as we were both sure first years wouldn't want to see such explicit decor and we couldn't exactly ruin one of the best surprises so early on in the day. However, one thing we were able to do was set up decorations in our dorm room - which in my opinion, was the most exciting part of the day.

"Fucking hell, this is like a whole body work out" Pansy groaned, hanging up the tissue-paper tassels we had only crafted last night above Tracey's bed.

"You're telling me," Ron sighed, struggling to keep me on his shoulders as I wobbled about in hopes of attaching a very badly drawn, very large and oddly veiny dick Millicent had taken a weird amount of pleasure in drawing, to the ceiling light.

"Hey, you love having me on your shoulders!" I shouted, smacking him lightly with my free hand before ultimately bending over to give him a kiss - trying my best not to do a forward flip and kill myself before Tracey had even got to see the surprise.

"I can't believe Cedric has somehow managed to get out of this" Millicent moaned, splaying herself across my bed in a true form of protest as she had the audacity to complain about everyone else being lazy.

"Yeah, and I can't believe I've been bloody roped into this" Ron replied, walking himself across the room as I continued to hang more Tracey-themed decorations.

"Whatever, what is the time anyway?" I asked, nearly gaining a concussion as Ron threw me off his shoulders and onto Pansy's bed - which definitely caused minor fractions in my back as I collided with the bed's springs.

"Quarter past ten" Millicent replied, flicking her wrist to view the time on her muggle watch we had gifted her for her seventeenth - even if all of us wanted to get her something that had less divorced woman energy.

"Are you joking me?!" I yelled, rolling ungracefully off the bed in panic as I rushed over to Tracey's bed in order to decorate further.

"Nope" Millicent giggled "...In fact it's actually sixteen past now"

"You're such a slacker Mills," Pansy expressed angrily, throwing confetti across Tracey's duvet in the most unhappy manner I think I've ever seen someone show whilst displaying such a happy action.

"Oh, as if I wasn't the one that drew that fine masterpiece hanging from the ceiling" she said, pointing to the decoration I had just hung as Ron and her laughed together.

"It is pretty big, I'm not going to lie" he smiled, a small dimple starting to form on his right cheek as I looked up from the last minute wrapping I was currently doing to watch them both giggling about the stupid decor.

"You two are just as bad as each other," I sighed, shaking my head as I tried to keep the sellotape from sticking to my arm.

Truth is, I absolutely loathed wrapping presents. I think it was one of the worst things to come from presents, because at the end of the day it was thrown away anyway. However, the rest of my friends had decided pretty early on in our friendship that the one thing we weren't going to use magic on was wrapping...as well as a couple of other things that in my opinion were best kept unspoken of. It was the worst thing to come from our friendship to be truthful, and that's why every year I left it to the last minute - just like Ron's and just like Tracey's.
