I woke up the next morning for the second time that week, shocked at the events that had taken place the night before. I touched my lips and relived again for the 100th time since last night how amazing of a kisser Matt was.

When I got to school I was all smiles at Sandy’s locker before Government.

“Oh, so you’ve dropped the ‘tude from yesterday I see?”

“Matt came to my house last night.” I whispered to her. I had told myself to keep it a secret, just between me and him, but Sandy and I were so close  I just couldn’t keep it from her. She looked at me, eyes getting wider, and I recounted the whole event.

“So you guys basically hate each other but ended up making out?”

“I feel like after last night we had a connection though, you know? Like, I feel like things can be different from now on.” I said smiling. My heart was hopeful, I was for once, excited to go to government.

The enthusiasm over our nation’s politics faded when Matt walked in about a minute after me and said nothing. Just walked over to his seat as if last night hadn’t even happened, Sandy turned around and shot me a look
“Who does he think he is” she mouthed, and I shrugged, casting him a dirty look.

When we got together in our pairs, and I walked over to Matt who was again, sitting on his phone, popping his gum like an obnoxious teenage girl.

“I didn’t get much research done last night.” I said looking down, blushing.

“Okay and…?” he said looking up at me from his slumped position at his desk

            “And did you do anything”

“I don’t really do work, Faith.”

“Well I’m not doing this whole project by myself.” I said sitting down at the desk next to his.

“Listen, you help me, I help you. You do the project, and well, you know my end of the bargain.”

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“Last night?” he said smirking, raising his eyebrows. I blushed and looked down

“Don’t be embarrassed I didn’t tell anyone, obviously.” He said lowering his voice.

“That’s not what this is. We’re working on the project today after school, and that’s it. Nothing else, Matt, I’m serious.”

“Whatever you say boss.” He said laughing. I couldn’t help but feel like everything was a joke to him.

I told Matt to meet me at the community library after school, I sat down at a table in the reference section, and I got about a half an hour worth of research done before he came in.

“Hi.” I said when he sat down.

“Sup.” He nodded towards me. I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear, suddenly self conscious as I remembered the fact that the library was practically empty.

“So, I got a lot done so far, and I just have to organize it, and then we can start deciding what we want to do for the art portion of it. I can write most of the paper if that’s-“
