Dawn's POV

I race through the halls, trying to get away from both my guards and babysitter. I can't believe Jayden actually gave me a stupid babysitter. I scowl but smile slightly when I see Silver bounding beside me. Poor dog... I had to choose her of all the dogs at the compound. I throw open the doors, shouldering my way past the tallest people I have ever seen.

Why is everyone in this god forsaken college so tall? I head towards the building, hoping to escape my babysitter and guards in the large crowds. It was almost one and he still wasn't back, so I was going to find him.

People chatter loudly, laughing until I practically elbow them to get through them. I open the college doors, fighting against the wave of people trying to leave. I follow my nose to the cafeteria. Maybe I could buy myself something to eat or drink while I look for Jayden. That is until I receive the best text I ever got.

Jayden: I'm in the cafeteria. I'll be up soon, love.

I giggle, glancing around the large and loud cafeteria but don't spot him. I casually shrug, and I knew I would never have done this if I hadn't taken my anxiety pills this morning. I gingerly place my foot on some guys lap, offering him an apologetic smile as I use him as a stepping stool to stand on the table. Silver barks, worried for me. I ignore her as I look over the crowded cafeteria.

"JAYDEN!" I scream, instantly people go quiet as the person I love the most stands up from his table and looks straight at me in worry. But when he sees me, he goes still as the doors is slammed open and my guards and babysitter race in.

"Oh shit. I'm in trouble, aren't I?" He calls, trying to give me an adorable pout. Okay, he succeeded but I had an iron will.

I turn to Elijah, giving him a cheeky smile. "Help me down." I order, he quickly reaches over the guy I stepped on and helps me down. I smile, bopping his nose and stalking over to Jayden who cowers further away from me the more I get closer to him.

"I love you." He whispers, I raise an eyebrow at him.

"A babysitter. Really? You gave me a babysitter?" I ask, unimpressed. He looks down, looking like my puppy.

"I wanted to keep you safe." He whines, I tap my foot with a raised eyebrow.

"That's what the guards are for. And Silver. I would have been fine waking up in your dorm by myself without some random guy on the ground beside me." I seethe, glaring at Jayden. He pouts, looking down at me.

"Sorry. I can promise that Teo won't watch you, but I can't promise that you will never have someone watching you." He murmurs, his eyes holding a bit of fear but mostly awe and wonder. I roll my eyes, kissing his cheek.

"Fine. But I better not even sense them nearby." I warn, he nods quickly. I finally let myself smile, bouncing on my toes.

"Go get me something to eat and you'll be forgiven!" I order, he nods and kisses me quickly before he goes to the lunch line. I sit at his table, giving the group a polite smile.

"I'm Dawn, Jay's girlfriend. And you are?" I ask with a giggle, the girls awe over me.

"She's so adorable!" One of the girl's coo, her hair was chopped off at her chin and she had bright blue hair.

"Thank you. I love your hair!" I reply brightly, she smiles happily as her grey eyes light up with my compliment.

"I'm keeping her!" She laughs out loud, holding her hand out for me to shake.

"I'm Reese. That's Bianca and Eden. These two boys, are Lake and Nathan. Lake's my brother, and Eden is his girlfriend. Bianca is my other friend." Reese tells me as I gingerly shake her hand.

"Is Jay getting into any fights? Bothering anyone? Do I have to kick his ass onto the ground?" I wink, everyone laughs loudly.

"No, no. He's doing just fine." Bianca assures me, tossing her rich brown hair over her shoulder. Food is set down in front of me, I grin and look up at Jay.

"The food isn't as good as yours, but it'll do." He offers as he sits down, I shrug.

"No one's food is better than mine!" I playfully scold, he laughs and kisses my temple.

"Very true, my love." He agrees, beginning to eat as I pick up the burger he gave me and hungrily dig into it. Someone gasps. When I look up I see shock on Eden's face, her hand cupping her throat.

"You're not going to eat a salad!" Eden gasps, I raise my eyebrow and swallow my bite.

"No. I'm not. Is that a problem for you?" I tilt my head, gently wiping the ketchup off my face with a napkin.

"My Mother taught me that you should always eat a salad to keep your figure." She scoffs, rolling her eyes.

"Well, I have a wonderful figure and I don't need a salad to keep it." I retort, Jay laughs and kisses me softly.

"That's my girl!" He praises, I smile as I bite into my burger. Eden's jaw drops, huffing as she stands and stomps away. Lake instantly relaxes, sighing in relief.

"I don't know how to break up with her." Lake groans, slumping his head onto the table.

"Like this. Jay, I want to break up." I say, nodding to Jay. Jay gawks, shaking his head.

"Nope. Not today missy." He practically growls, giving me a scowl. I kiss his cheek.

"I was only kidding. It was to show him how you break up with someone." I wink, finishing my lunch quickly. I stand up, turning to Elijah with a raised eyebrow. He sighs, reaching into his pocket and handing me my chocolate bar that I had him pick up for me earlier.

"Thank you!" I pluck it from his hands, grinning as I sit down and begin to eat it. "You're right. This food sucks." I laugh, the group laughs as I wink.

"So, how did you two meet?" Nathan asks, tilting his head to the side slightly.

"In senior year I moved to his city after a few unfortunate events, and he decided he'd follow me around like a long, lost puppy. It took me months to actually start dating him, because he loves to irritate me at all the wrong times." I wink, making Bianca and Reese burst into giggles.

"Men, am I right?" Reese winks, making us three bursts into more giggles. Nathan chuckles as Jay and Lake feign being offended.

"That was a good one!" Nathan chuckles, taking a large gulp of his soda. Us girls share a knowing look, bursting into another fit of laughter. I like Jay's friends. Especially these two girls.
