Jay's POV

I kept her words at heart as I did everything to earn her forgiveness. I didn't know where to start, but I guess that was the lesson I had to learn.

I broke her, I knew that. So, I started with our relationship. I made her breakfast every morning, I did the household chores, I picked up Emmie and Kieran and dropped them off. When she was at school or at her new business, I cleaned the house for her and made sure her room was perfect just the way she likes it.

I left her tiny things, I reprinted our pictures and hung them everywhere. And when I was done, I'd drive to her business and clean it from top to bottom. It was a start, but not even close to where I wanted to be.

We only had a couple of weeks until graduation, and I really wanted her to forgive me by then. But I know it was practically impossible.

Speaking of, I'm actually making her breakfast right now. I hear quick footsteps coming down from upstairs. "Jayden! Dawn's really sick. She's throwing up everywhere and she's crying!" Emmie gasps from behind me, I turn off the stove and race upstairs at break neck speed.

I race into her bedroom, the one that's apart from mine unfortunately. I race into her bathroom, seeing her on the ground in a sweat, crying, and throwing up. I collapse to my knees as Silver barks at me. Her guards race in, having previously patrolling the house and grounds. I rub her back, pulling her hair away from her face as she hovers over the toilet bowl.

"It hurts." She cries, I gently rub her back.

"What hurts, my love?" I ask soothingly, she sobs.

"My stomach! It hurts so bad." She yells out in pain, screwing her face up. I brush my hand across her forehead, heat against my hand. She has a fever. I slide my arms underneath her, picking her up with ease. I practically run down the stairs, racing outside and towards the car. Silver bounding by myside.

"Caelian! Leanna! You're in charge of the kids! Rest of you, meet me at the hospital!" I scream, gently sitting my Dawn in the seat and buckling her up. Silver jumps into the car, escaping into the backseat. I slam the door, racing to my side so quickly I almost slip.

I roll down her window as I drive quickly to the hospital, fear running through my veins. I park outside the ER. I pick her up, racing into the hospital with Silver at my heels with her service dog vest on still. People gasp as I run in, looking at my Dawn worriedly.

"She's been throwing up all morning, and she has a horrible fever. She says her stomach hurts, really bad. Help her, now." I spit through my teeth. Dawn groans in my arms, turning her head and throwing up.

"Dawn, Dawn!" I yell as her head lolls to the side, passing out. The lady at the front desk yells something, a doctor rushing out with a bed in tow. I lay her down, grabbing her hand as we race inside.

"Please, I'm so so sorry." I whisper over and over.

"Sir, how long has this been going on?" The doctor demands, I look up at him startled as they push her into a room and close the door for us.

"I, uh, well her younger sister came running down from upstairs while I was making breakfast and yelled that Dawn was throwing up and crying. I ran up, found her sweating on the floor and then she cried that her stomach was in pain so I brought her here because it seemed like intense pain." I explain, he sighs.

"I'm guessing you're her boyfriend. Was there any bleeding? Could she be miscarrying a child?" He asks, beginning to check her vitals.

"No, no. We, uh, haven't been active in a while. I've been gone for six months too. So, there's no way." I explain, he nods.

"Very well. Any other symptoms?" He asks, I nod.

"A big fever." I reply, he sighs and nods to a nurse.

"Get some ice water, we need to get her up or we can't treat her." But his words were futile. She sat up straight, sobbing once more.

"Stop the pain! Jay, please." She cries. This was the first time she's called me Jay since we broke up, but I wasn't going to let her suffer.

"Darling, tell them where it hurts on your stomach." I shush, she grabs onto my hand with a whimper.

"My right side." She whispers, the doctor's nods and begins to press on her stomach. Once he hits a certain spot, she gasps in pain. "Stop!" She yells out, her narrows his eyes.

"We need to take her to surgery. Her appendix is exploding." He says quickly, looking at her.

"Do you consent to having surgery?" He asks her, she nods.

"How old are you?" He asks, she breathes shakily.

"Eighteen." She whispers, he nods and has her sign her name and then she's out in a flash. A nurse takes me out into the waiting room, Silver whining at my heels. I stumble into a seat and begin to pray.

Hours later, the door opens to the waiting room. "Jayden Pierce?" A voice is called. I stand quickly, looking at the doctor. "She's fine. Surgery went well, and she's sleeping in her room. You can go ahead and head back. She'll be fine to leave about a couple hours after she wakes." He informs me. I sigh in relief, racing towards her room with Silver's leash in hand.

She was beautiful, just lying there peacefully. I sit next to her in the chair, already sending money to pay for everything from this visit. I knew she had insurance, but I would have liked to just get it over with.

I gently take her hand, watching her softly. "I love you, darling. And I know I messed you up when I left. What I said, what I did, is unforgivable. I know that, but I do want you to know that I love you even if you can't hear me. You're the love of my life and I don't ever want to lose you, but I did. I lost you, and I know it will be nearly impossible to get you back. But just know, I love you and want you to be my wife. One day, we can have children. One day, it can just be you and me. You're my everything." I whisper, looking down with a sigh.

She squeezes my hand softly as she sleepily opens her eyes. "I love you too." She says groggily, I push down my hope that it was true. "Even when... when you left. I... hoped you'd come back. And I can't get over you." She slurs, I chuckle and press a kiss to her hand.

"I'm sure." I agree, she furrows her eyebrows.

"Mean it. I promise." Her words blur together. I sigh, smiling at her through the pain.

"I know, Darling. Let's just sign those papers and get you home."
