AT THE HOSPITAL
Lacey is just finishing signing the papers as a nurse walks in.
NURSE:
Hi Lacey. I heard you are leaving very soon.
LACEY:
Yeah! I just finished signing the papers.
NURSE:
Okay well I have your medication right here. You will need to take one of each every morning for two weekS. Then you can ween yourself off of both of them after that. Okay?
LACEY:
Okay.
NURSE:
Also no physical activities for one week because your head still needs to heal from the concussion.
Lacey and Anna glance at each other.
NURSE:
Of course no heavy lifting because of your wrist. And wear a plastic bag over your cast when you take a shower or go swimming. You will most likely get your cast off in four weeks.
Lacey nods to let the nurse know that she is listening.
NURSE:
And I think that covers about everything. Here's your medication.
The nurse hands the two bottles to Lacey.
LACEY:
Thank you.
ANNA:
Um, excuse me. Would you consider, uh, sex a physical activity?
Lacey turns her head to Anna and looks at her with frightened eyes.
NURSE:
Um, I would say so, yeah.
ANNA:
Oh, okay thank you.
NURSE:
Yep. Well, hope you recover well. And have a good day.
The nurse leaves.
LACEY:
Anna why would you ask that?
ANNA:
Well I just wanted to know. I was curious.
LACEY:
Anna I don't how we are gonna do that.
ANNA:
Well, she never said that we can't make out.
LACEY:
True.
ANNA:
Okay well, let's go.
LACEY:
Yeah.
They both get up and head towards the door.
LACEY:
My lipstick is on your face by the way.
Anna wipes her mouth right away.
ANNA:
And you just tell me now?
LACEY:
Sorry. I couldn't interrupt our conversation with the doctor and then after that I just didn't want to tell you. I don't think it's your color by the way.
ANNA:
Oh, wow. Thanks.
They leave the room. Secretly grateful for the memories and time they spent together. And thinking of the memories yet to come.
