It seems like I'm starting every chapter now with "I kNow I hAvEn'T pOsTeD iN a wHiLe" But- seriously- I haven't. I am really sorry and I'll try to write more now because school just finished up for the term so I'll have more time to write. *applause*

So I'm gonna publish this little crappy story until my brain poops out a good one. Enjoyyyyy.

"Chief. Uh- She hasn't come back yet," A young agent mermerd, inching into the room. Daniel had sent out a few agents to an active shooter situation to attempt to defuse the situation. One of them was Peggy. Daniel had refused in the beginning, not noticing his subconscious protection of Peggy until she pointed it out. He let her go out of guilt, and now the rest of the agents had made it back, except the chief's girlfriend.

"What do you mean she hasn't come back?!?!" Daniel snapped.

"I-I mean she hasn't come back, Chief. No sign of her," The agent slowly backed away, knowing how the chief got over her safety.

"Well, find her!" Daniel yelled, jumping out of his seat. His grip around his pen tightened.

"Hey! Sousa, give him a break!" Jack marched into the room, gesturing for the young agent to exit. He ran out of the room as Jack walked up to Daniel. "Look. You need to calm down.

He collapsed in his chair as his knees felt weak. His breath quickened, worry screaming in his chest. He felt paralyzed with fear.

"Easy for you to say, Jack," He managed to say.

"Sousa. We'll find her. I know it'll be hard for you, but she's a damn strong agent and you know that. It'll be fine," Jack said, leaning on Daniel's desk. Daniel swallowed hard and slowly nodded his head.

"Yeah. Yeah she'll be fine," He hesitantly said.

"Okay, we've been told not to interfere anymore than we already have so all we can really do is wait it out," Jack stated.

"What? No! We can't leave her there. She's-"

"-gonna be fine, Sousa. Peggy is definitely stronger than most of the guys in here. It's not that bad yet, She'll get out" Jack tried. Daniel just glared at him, letting his gaze burn through him.

"Then what do they want us to do?" Daniel said, standing up and grabbing his crutch.

"Stay put. Not interfere. Stand by," Jack shrugged

"This is ridiculous! Peggy could be in danger o-or hurt, or-" Daniel couldn't breathe. His chest screamed with worry. His breathing became uneven

"Sousa? You okay?" Jack asked, walking over to him

"I need to get down there," His fists became white as he clutched his crutch. He couldn't lose her.

"And do what? Get shot to find out Peggy had escaped? Get yourself fired for disobeying orders? Daniel. You have to think this through. It's not gonna end well," Jack said

"What good am I doing here, Jack?!" Daniel desperately pointed out.

"You'll give Peg an easier time knowing that you're safe, here, with us," Jack stated. A silent void filled the room. Thoughts filled the chief's head. He shook his head

"You're right. What would I be able to do anyway?" Daniel groaned. Jack slithered out of the room, leaving Daniel alone with his thoughts.

'Peggy could be in pain right now' He thought. 'She could have gotten shot, or stabbed, or-' He stopped when his hand pricked with pain. He looked down at it to notice he was digging his fingernails into his palm. Blood brimmed the marks he had made. Daniel clearly couldn't be left alone with his thoughts. Groaning, he got up to find a tissue to wipe the blood up.

Sighing in frustration, he collapsed in his chair. Trying to distract himself with work, he grabbed his pen and started back up on what he was doing. Blocking his worry out with paperwork.

He sat there in hyperspeed for an amount of time that was completely unknown to him. He was always good with using work as an excuse to forget the troubles in life. All it took was a quick glance up to see everyone gathering around a worried Jack's desk. His head resting in his hands while they listened to information spilling from the radio. Daniel shot up and made his way outside just in time for the radio to stop.

"What happened?" Daniel's quivering voice asked. Jack glanced around the room, hoping someone else would pipe up.

"Well, Shots were fired. They don't know if anyone got hit yet," Jack said. Daniel could feel his breath start to quicken. He nodded and rushed back inside his office before anyone could notice. His mind buzzing, he leant on the desk for extra support.

Minutes passed before Thompson threw the door open.

"They need us down there, agents are getting out," He panted, like he had run from the other side of the building.

"Really?" Daniel jumped up, ready to go

"We're already suiting up, and I think you wanna be down there, Chief," Jack smirked

"Let's go!" Daniel ordered.

*Time skip brought to you by my lack of motivation caused by my insane lack of sleep*

Pulling up at an old warehouse, surrounded with cop and SSR cars. Officers and Agents stood guard, their guns visible on their belts. The med tent was already up and going, helping injured agents that had made it out.

Anticipation filled the chief's chest, along with worry and desperation. His team jumped out and ran alongside those waiting to bust open the door. Daniel watched the dirt-stained windows, trying to spot Peggy, knowing full well that was next to impossible.

Gunshots rang through his ears. Orders were yelled out and countless armed agents kicked down the door. Countless shots boomed through the air. Agents spilled through the doors, and some windows, desperate to get out of the nightmare that laid inside. Daniel wiped sweat off his brow before his heart stopped completely.

Peggy ran out. Her hair was going in all different directions, her clothes were ripped and dirt smeared across her skin. She was breathtaking nonetheless. Her name spilt through Daniel's lips as he ran up to her. The moment she saw him, she was in his arms in a heartbeat.

Daniel's warm arms held her tightly. She was shaking slightly as her cheeks became soaked. Daniel stroked her hair and held her tighter.

"Peg-" Daniel choked. Peggy raised her head and connected their lips. Desperate, Passionate. When they separated, they were both breathing hard. It was only a matter of time before paranoid Daniel kicked in.

"Are you alright? Are you hurt? What happened?" He frantically asked. Peggy lightly laughed, knowing this is how he got.

"I'm fine, Daniel. I just don't want to talk about it. I just want to go home," She mumbled, going back to hiding in the crook of his neck where nothing could hurt her.

"Whatever you want," He whispered, tracing shapes on her back, smiling like an idiot.
