What time is it?

It's 3 am

Sleep deprivation

What time is it?

Time of my death

That's right, say it loud

And this story doesn't make any sense, just go with it

She regretted what she said. She regretted making Daniel walk out like that.

He hadn't come home last night, nor had he sent Peggy any messages, or even call her. She had spent all day trying to ignore the nagging voice in her head that Daniel hated her, that Daniel never wanted to see her again. Peggy wanted to cry, she wanted to scream, she started to believe the sly voices. But there was always that small voice, trying to stand up for itself and say that Daniel would come back, but it was devoured by Peggy's darkest thoughts.

After shattering yet another plate in an attempt to clean the kitchen, she decided to silence the voices and have a nap. The pillow soaked with tears, she drifted to sleep, memories of Daniel floating through her head. Good and bad.

"Hey, Peg, it's late. Come to bed, honey," Daniel said, shuffling into the room, Peggy hunched over her latest files.

"I'm almost done," The brunette murmured, not moving her gaze from her papers.

"Wacha doing?" Daniel asked, walking up behind his girlfriend.

"Getting a headstart on my work for tomorrow," She said simply, still ignoring the man wrapping his arms around her neck. He nuzzled his nose in her hair, trying to at least get a smile out of her.

"Hey, Peg. Cmon, what's wrong," Daniel lightly laughed. Peggy's apathy didn't falter.

"I'm sorry, Daniel, I just have a lot of work to do. Can we talk tomorrow?" She said, one tone, moving papers this way and that. Daniel pulled back his arms.

"At least sound sincere about it," He muttered as he charged to the door.

"What do you mean?" Peggy asked bitterly, finally looking up from her desk and at Daniel.

"You heard me. Sometimes I feel like all you worry about is work! You care more about your stupid cases than me!" The man couldn't help but raise his voice, not yelling. Not yet.

"I'm sorry but they're not stupid, they're important!" The agent protests, pushing herself up into a standing position.

"Really, wow. That's-" His laugh filled the room. "-that's what you defend! Why am I not surprised?!"

"Daniel, you know I love you-" She tried, taking a step towards him.

"Then how come you spend every waking moment thinking about work! I'm just an afterthought at this point! Every night, you spend hours working away in here, probably more than you talk to me now! It's obvious it's more important to you than I am!" He was yelling now. His rage coursing through his veins, months of anger and resentment shooting out of him

"Daniel, listen to me-"

"I'M DONE LISTENING PEGGY!" He screamed as tears pricked his eyes. He bolted downstairs, the sound of quick steps followed by his crutch taunted Peggy, gluing her feet to the ground. Peggy ran through the house after hearing the front door crash shut. All she saw were the headlights shrink in the distance. She was still trying to process what had just happened while tears poured down her cheeks. Her heart was pounding in her chest as the headlights faded into the black of the night.
