Kay's POV:
I walked out of the restaurant doors holding my new uniform. Not bad I guess. A way to make money.
The place was decent. The men that went there on Friday nights were not though. Or so I heard.
I returned home and was relaxing when the phone rang.
"Hello?" I said without checking the called ID.
"Hello Kay." A dark voice on the other side of the line said.
"What do you want?" I spat. I was not in the mood in this particular moment.
"Just wanted to let you know, Nash won't last long." He said evilly.
"What are you talking about you creep?" I asked losing my patience.
"Well Nash is here right now and... tsk tsk he's not doing well. Not really listening which leads to more discomfort. For him anyhow." he said as chills ran down my spine.
"What have you done to Nash?" I said standing up.
Before I knew it I was pacing. A habit I only did when I was nervous.
"So far? Nothing too bad. But I can stop. You just have to turn yourself in." He said coldly.
"And you'll let Nash go?" I asked.
"I promise not to hurt a hair on his head after that." he said. I could hear him smiling from the place where the cruel man sat.
I considered this for a moment. No matter what I or anyone tells me, I know that I will forever love Nash Grier. Nothing I do can ever change that. And that's what's going to get me killed.
"Done." I said hanging up the phone.
Nash's POV:
Something wasn't right. I could feel it in my gut. Which only made me more anxious.
We were currently sitting on the plane almost ready to touch down. I sat close to the window with Alyss in the middle and Jack on the isle.
"She's fine." Alyss said.
I looked over and she was looking at me.
"Is it that obvious?" I asked embarrassed how easy to read I was.
"Well when you're thinking about her, your grip on the armrest tightens, you start breathing really heavily, and you look like you need to run. So yeah it's pretty obvious." She said smiling.
"I just need to talk to her. Make sure she's okay." I said.
"We'll lets try to take your mind off of the situation right now. So what's your story? You and her?" She asked.
"Well almost two years ago now, I saw her walking in a store with her foster mom so me being the stupid player I was went to talk to her. Man did she give me a run for money." I said fondly remembering the first day I talked to her.
"The next day I ran into her again and we started hanging out until she started living in my treehouse after she escaped Mike the first time. I've been crazy about her ever since." I said.
"That's nice!" Alyss smiled at me.
"So what's yours and Mikes story? How do you know so much about him?" I asked. As long as we're asking.
"It's complicated. I'm his daughter." She said.
My jaw dropped.
"His daughter? Why didn't Kay know about you?" I asked.
"He never talked about me to anyone. My mom left him with me three days after they got home from the hospital. Not the most glamorous story but I moved out when he went to jail. I've been wanting to get people away from him ever since." She said sighing.
We continued asking each other questions and before I knew it we were landing.
I was impatient the entire time. From when we got off the plane to getting our bags to finding the rental car.
"Nash! If I turn on the radio will you stop talking?" Jack said starting the car.
"Probably not." I said smiling.
I pulled up the address on my phone and basically told him to speed the entire way there.
We finally found a parking spot and I bolted from the car.
"We can get the bags later!" I said calling over my shoulder.
I ran up ten flights of stairs to her floor and raced down the hallway to find her door broken off it's hinges and pushed to the side.
I slipped and the entire apartment was a mess. What happened?
End of Book One
A/n:
I need your opinion. Should there be a sequel or should I just leave the rest up to your imagination? Thank you for sticking with my book until the end. I really appreciate it! <3
