Chapter 12
KAY'S POV:
Its 3:30 in the morning and I opened my window far enough I could slip out.
I'd spent the night going over my plan in my head and decided that it would be best to travel light.
I packed extra clothes, a picture of my parents, all my and Mikes money, and a picture of Nash and me that I can't for the life of me remember where it was taken.
I didn't feel to guilty taking Mikes money considering everything he's put me through.
It had been a few weeks since I left and all the scars I already had looked tiny compared to my new ones.
I couldn't do it any more.
I took one last look around my room then slipped out the window.
It was silly of my uncle to put me in a room near the big oak tree.
I climbed down the tree and, taking one last look around, started walking down the street.
--------------------------------------------
It was 5:30 by the time I made it to the train station. Looks like cross country is paying off!
I bought a ticket for the 5:45 train and a cheap breakfast. As I sat and waited I thought about my decision.
'No' I thought shaking my head. 'I couldn't stay there. He'd beat me to death'
The train arrived and I slowly and cautiously stepped on to the purple T-train and took a seat before it sped me away from my uncle.
A young man around my age sat next to me and he had a back pack and what was I'm assuming last minute homework.
"Hi! I haven't seen you on the train before!" he said looking up from his binder.
"Oh um yeah it's a one time thing. I'm riding back in to see my family in Pennsylvania." I said carefully.
"Oh nice!" he said and that pretty much ended our conversation.
The train came to a slow stop and everyone got up to leave. I grabbed my bag and exited. I glanced around and somehow the train took me to the train station in Pennsylvania!
I didn't realize how close New Jersey!
After I called a cab I took it to my school. I payed the fairly rude driver and started walking towards my school.
After I was sure the cab was gone I took and turn so I was heading into the woods.
I twisted and turned on a path I had learned by heart and eventually it came to a clearing where, if you looked up, stood my destination.
The Bat Cave sat up in the branches in the tree that looks like it would never fall down. It was tall and round and if you looked really closely at the bark you could see that Nash had marked it as his tree.
I smiled at all the memories I had here. I didn't realize how much I'd missed this place.
I slowly climbed up latter and peeked in. Nobody was sitting in there so I climbed in.
I set my stuff on the floor then settled on the bed.
I don't think my head was even on the pillow when I fell asleep.
It was nice to fall asleep knowing you won't get up and be beaten in the morning!
