Chapter 4
KAY'S POV:
We ran into the woods and he dragged me through a bunch of tree's before stopping causing me to bump into his back.
"We're here Flash!" he said.
Flash seems to be my new nickname. Well considering I don't think he knows my name it's a place to start.
"And 'here' is where exactly?" I asked.
"No not on the ground silly." he said like it was obvious. "Up there." he tilted my head back revealing the most amazing tree house I've ever seen.
"Oh my goodness!" I gasped.
"Like it?" he asked clearly pleased with my reaction.
"I love it. It's amazing!" I said.
He smiled and led the way to a ladder made out of indents in the tree.
We got to the top and went in.
It was amazing!
There was a bunk bed ad a TV with a fridge and fan.
It was like a mini house.
"Oh my goodness!" I said looking around.
"Did your dad make this?" I asked him.
"Nope I did!" he said smiling proudly.
My jaw dropped. He made this?
"When do you have the time to come here?" I asked him.
Lisa is always on me about going somewhere. She has to know where I'm going when I'll be back an who, when I went with people, I was going with.
"When I'm mad, stressed, or don't feel like being around my brothers then I come here. I've disappeared for weeks at a time and they haven't found me. Your the only other living soul that knows where this is. Not even my best friend Cameron knows." He stated.
I don't know why but for some reason I felt special. I was the only other person in the world who knows where his secret place is. Not even Cameron knows.
"Wow" was all I could say.
He smiled at me the patted the seat next to him on a window seat.
"So now for the real reason I brought you here. I want to get to know you!" he said gesturing with his hands to talk.
"Um ok my name is Kay not Flash. I'm 15, and my only friend is the boy who I thought was to caught up in popularity to notice me. His name is Nash Grier. Perhaps you've heard of him?" I asked laughing.
"Why yes I think I have heard of this Nash you speak of. And your still Flash. Nobody must know your real identity." he said.
I laughed and went along with it.
"Ok and your new name is Batman!" I said.
"Yes! Flash and Batman! Super hero's of high school!" He said jumping up
"Yes! we fight against the mean pops and there stupid squads!" I said.
After that we both laughed and hung out in Nash's treehouse or the 'Bat-layer' as it is now known.
In the end we had to go back to school and actually do work.
I walked in the front and he walked in the back so we weren't seen together. That would just make things weird.
I walked into my next class which was ELA and saw Cameron and Nash were in this class too.
I forgot Nash is in most of my classes.
I was heading towards the back of the room when Luke, the schools jerk player and womanizer, stood up in front of me.
"Hey girl. Your the only one in the school who doesn't want to be with me. Why? What can I do to make you like me?" he asked clearly trying to set me up for humiliation.
"You can go away." I mumbled but he couldn't hear it.
"Hm? What's that? Does it speak?" He asked and the class laughed.
My face burned red and out of the corner of my eye I saw Cameron and Nash get up and walk towards us.
"C'mon man leave her alone." Cameron said.
"Since when do you care what happens to little Miss Nobody?" He shot at Nash and Cameron.
"We just don't like the way you treat all girls and think its time you stop." Nash said
If I didn't know any better I would say he's almost mad that people pick on me. Strange.
With a huff Luke sat down. Before Nash or Cameron could say anything I bolted to the back of the room and put my head down on my desk.
The lesson began and I didn't look up from the desk.
Until I felt eyes on me.
I raised my head to find Cameron staring at me with the look I hated the most. Pity.
Nash was looking at me in a way that made me feel the short conversation I avoided with him and Cameron is far from over.
Please Nash don't pity me.
That's all I thought. I don't need somebody else's pity thank you very much.
