Chapter 1
KAY'S POV:
I was sitting in my room in the foster house listening to my music when Lisa decided to come in.Lisa was my favorite out of all of the care takers at the orphanage.
She treated me like her own daughter and didn't pity me. Which I appreciate
I don't want people's sympathy. I want them to forget about it and move on.
"Hey Lisa" I said
"Hi Kay! Do you want to go school shopping now or wait until tomorrow when it's the last minute?" she said teasingly.
I have a tendency to put things off until the last possible minute. In fifth grade I did most of my science fair project the night before the competition.
"I think we should go now." I said laughing considering the fact that the first day of school is tomorrow
We got the things we needed and left for Target.
I was looking through different pens, pencils, and erasers when I swear I could feel a pair of eyes on me.
I turned around expecting it to be Lisa but its the middle school high school popular boy.
Mr. Nash Grier is possibly the most popular kid in the entire school
Good looking, smart, fit who wouldn't like him?
I wouldn't
He lets his popularity go to his head! His ego is taller than the Empire State Building and he's a total jerk to nobody's like me.
Granted nobody is ever nice to me so I can see where that comes from.
Reputation is all jocks like him care about.
He smirked at me and I just turned around and acted like what just happened had no effect on me.
That's right! Just to wipe that stupid grin off his face.
I turned around but ran into a wall?
I looked up and who might be there but him the all mighty.
"Can I help you?" I asked
I'm so proud of myself for my voice not shaking! Go Kay!
"No just looking." he said the corner of his mouth starting into a smile.
"Are you new here? What school will you be going to?"
I don't know why but some part if me was sad he didn't recognize me or remember that this year we have most classes together.
"I'm not new. I've been going to SPM just as long as you have." I said back.
He looked confused and then he looked at me again and it dawned on him.
"You the kid that nobody knows about! The one who doesn't talk to any one." He said wide eyed.
"Yes that's me and thank you sir for reminding me how much I hate school. Well if you don't have anymore insults then I'll be on my way." I said with a fake smile.
I started to walk away when he grabbed my arm to stop me.
"Wait! I'm sorry. What can I do to make it up to you?" he said.
If I didn't know who he was I would've thought he was being serious.
"You can leave me alone like everyone else. Won't your oh-so-precious reputation get demolished if people see you with the girl that nobody likes?" I said.
This boy would be to willing to lose his reputation if he ever talked to me again on school grounds.
"So? What can they do about it? School starts tomorrow and most people who could make a difference in my reputation are all at end of the summer party's getting drunk or something." he said
