Chapter 27:
Kay's POV:
As I packed my phone started buzzing.
Nash wanted to Face Time me! Shoot!
I clicked the answer button and his face popped up as he wore a huge grin.
"Hi Kay! Oh you wouldn't believe this! This is amazing! The crowds love us! Could you imagine this every day! it's just...... wow!" he started.
"Nice!" I said. I hated to down his spirits but I had to do this before it was to hard and I never did it. "So do you think you might be doing this more often?" I asked.
"I'd love to! But don't worry! We'll make us work. I promise!" he said.
A tear slid down my cheek. This was going to be way harder than I originally thought.
"Kay what's wrong! Who do I have to beat up?!" he asked.
I laughed and shook my head. "No one. Nothing you can do to help me."
"Then what is it? What can I do to help?" he asked.
Another tear slid down.
"I need you to let me go."
"Wha-"
"Nash listen to me. How can you promise to make us work when you're on the other side of the country?" I said.
"I don't understand?" his sad eyes said.
"My uncle is back. He's changed" I said smiling warmly. "He's taking me back. He was so nice today Nash! You would think he's a totally different person! I'm leaving with him tonight." I finished as he just stared at the camera.
"But- I don't understand? Why?" he asked stunned.
"He's my legal guardian! There's nothing we can do. I'm sorry. I hate doing this! I feel we get back together just to break."
I saw him have a hard time holding back an emotion he was scared of showing.
"Which is why I need you to forget me. Forget everything. I'll miss you! Bye Nash." I hit the end button and sat there watching the black screen.
Suddenly it lit up making me jump.
Uncle Mike: Ready when you are ;)
I zipped up my bag and climbed down the ladder.
This time I'm not coming back. Not again.
I walked out and saw uncle sitting in the black pick up.
He jumped out smiling and lifted my bags into the car.
He opened the door and helped me climb up into the high front seat of the pickup.
"You ready?" he asked climbing in next to me.
I sighed looking once more around me. "Yeah. Yeah lets hit the road."
He took my small hand in his and he drove away.
We got on the highway and I realized I left my St. Bridget's Cross necklace on the table in the 'kitchen' I was messing around with it.
"What's wrong?" uncle asked me.
"Oh nothing. Just thought I lost something. But I got it!" I smiled.
He smiled back as I moved to the cool middle of the front seat. His pickup had, basically, a bench in the front so three people could sit up front.
Leaning my head on uncles shoulder I sighed.
Somehow I think I'm ready for this. I need to start over.
"Well sweetheart. I'm happy you decided to come with me." Uncle said kissing the top of my head.
"Your parents would be so proud of the young lady you've become." He said.
I sat up sniffle-laughing. "Uncle you're going to make me cry!" I laughed.
"What's your middle name again?" he asked out of nowhere.
"Lauren." I said smiling at my mothers name.
"Kay Lauren. I like that! I think I'll call you that from now on!" he said as a matter of factly.
"What? Kay Lauren? If you want!" I said smiling.
"Try and get some sleep now. We got a long day a head of us." Uncle said.
"Ok. Goodnight!"
"Goodnight love. Sweet dreams." He said as I moved back to the right side and leaned my head against the pillowed window.
It's been a long time since someone told me to have sweet dreams. I liked it!
