Penguin x [F] Reader 🪨 Little Rock - Part 1

"Have a nice day ~" I wave off mother and daughter.

"H-Hi (Y/N)."

I turn around to see Penguin, "hi Penguin. How are you today?"

"I'm g-good. How are you? You're not working too hard are you?" He pulls his hat down.

"Hehe, today's not too bad. It's pretty slow actually."

"So it's okay for you to talk?"

"Yes it's okay for me to talk."

"Cool... Have you had many customers?"

"Only a hand full today, we were pretty busy yesterday."

"That's good," he goes quiet.

"Were you able to get the supplies you needed?"

"Yes! I was, thank you for helping me."

"It's no problem, glad I could help."

"Law said they were quality pens..."

"I knew they would be. They perfect for a doctor, they dry quickly and don't smudge."

"He said that..." He fiddled with something behind his back. "Umm do you like penguins?"

"Hehe, does that include you?"

"Uhh... Maybe..."

"Well, I think penguins are cute. The dad stays home, keeps the egg warm. While the mum goes and hunts for food. When they're in the water they're called a raft, on land, they're a waddle."

"Do you know that a male will search the whole beach for the perfect rock..."

"No, I didn't know that. What do they do with the rock?" I already know why, read a book years ago about penguins. I want to see if he'll tell me.

He pulls the hat down even more. "They... They umm... Gift it to the female..."

"That's so sweet, why do they gift them the rock?"

"Uhh... They gift the rock, to woo them...?"

"Oh to woo them, they're so sweet."

"I guess, do you like them?"

"Hmm... Do I like penguins?" I tap my lip, "yes I do like they. I like you Penguin."

"Here!" He holds his hand out, pulls his hand back. "What did you say?"

"I said I like you Penguin." I watch it tick over.

"You like me?" I nod, "here!"

He holds his hand out, there's a small velvet (F/C) bag. I open, tip the bag up a bit. A rock slides out, I turn it over there's pink cracks.

"It's a boulder opal. I found it, on the beach. I clean it, covered in sand. Ha ha..."

"Penguin it's beautiful." There are speckles of blue and orange, I think purple.

"So will you be my girl?"

I lean over the counter, pull him closer. "I'll be your girl ~" I kiss him.

I pull away, "uhh..."

"Hehe, thank you for the opal. I love it, not as much as I love you."

He puts his head down, "I love you too..."

"Penguin-ya."

I look up the street, Law walking down with Bepo. "Hello Law, how are you today?"

"You must be (Y/N)-ya." He stops in front of the bench.

"That's me ~"

"Mmm... Penguin-ya we're leaving tomorrow. Say your goodbyes now, you need to get supplies."

"Yes, Cap'n..."

"Good, (Y/N)-ya thank you for the pens."

"No problem ~" They walk away, I look over to Penguin his shoulders are slump. "What's wrong?"

He looks up, "nothing. I better get going..." He walks away.

"(Y/N)." I turn to my boss, "it's a slow day. Why don't you go help Penguin."

"Thank you, Maddy."

"I rather not have an angry supernova."

Thanks, Maddy... Thanks... "Thank you, Maddy. Let me know if you need me."

"I should be okay, thank you, Have a good day ~"

I take my apron off, "thank you I'll see you tomorrow."

"Take as much time as you need."

"I will," why do I feel like a sacrifice...  I run out of the cafe, look for Penguin. Thankfully he didn't get too far. "Penguin wait up."

He stops and turns, "don't you have work?"

I stop next to him, "Maddy said since it was quiet I could go early."

"That's great! I mean it'll be a big help..."

"Hehe, where to first?"

"Uhh, I need to get rice."

"For good rice, it's this way ~" I take his hand and lead the way.

"Thanks for helping me again (Y/N)."

"It's okay, I enjoyed shopping with you."

"I did to. I mean with you, I enjoy... Shopping with you..."

We stop at the ramp to the sub. "Will I get to see you before you go?"

"I'm pretty sure Law wants to leave as soon as the sun up."

"Oh okay," that's a bummer.

"You know I could see you before the sun comes up." He smiles.

"I'll be awake bright and early."

"I'll see you in the morning."

I kiss him, "see you in the morning Penguin."

I walk away, "(Y/N) wait!"

I turn around, Penguin grabs pulls me in close. He holds me in place, smashes his lips into mine. Oh, gawd, why do you have to leave?

"In case I don't make it. Law changes his mind sometimes."

"Hehe, I'm glad I got that kiss early."

"Ha ha," he puts his hands into his pockets. "Before I forget, here." He pulls out a small Den Den. "It's my personal one, so we can talk."

I take the Den Den. "So I can call you later?"

"If you want to, I won't be doing anything."

"Talk to you then." I wave bye head home.
