Spencer
I didn't want to do anything today.
I didn't want to go to school today. I didn't want to get ready. I didn't even want to get up this morning. But here I am, fully ready for school at 7:30 a.m.
I was just now putting my laptop into my backpack and making sure I had everything I needed. I slipped on the first pair of shoes that I could find before grabbing my car keys. I left my room and ran up the stairs with my backpack slung over my shoulder.
My room is in the basement.
Basically, the entire basement is my room. I mean there is a room down here that is mine but it is basically like an apartment down here. There isn't a stove or oven, but there was a refrigerator and a microwave. It doesn't really get used except for the fact that the fridge always has beverages in it.
Nobody else comes down here except for when my mom is the one that stocks the fridge every week. Other than that, nobody comes down here.
I grab a granola bar from the pantry before heading out the door that leads right to the garage. I open up the garage door before getting into my black jeep. I hook up my phone to bluetooth and pressed shuffle on my music. I pull out of the garage, shut the large door, and pull out of the driveway.
I begin driving to Aspyn's house as I ate my granola bar. I agreed to drive her to school this entire week while her car was in the shop getting fixed. It was Friday, so it's the last day where I bring her to school.
It's not like I was complaining about her riding with me because quite frankly, I enjoyed it. We get to have some time before school where we can talk about whatever and we get to have our own little concert in the car. I prefer driving to school with a friend because of these things. It makes it much more enjoyable.
"It was about time you showed up," Aspyn said as she got into the passenger seat. "I thought you weren't going to show up."
"I woke up late again today," I sighed as I drove away from her house and in the direction of the school.
"How was your morning today? Anything happen with your mom?" she asked.
She knew the situation with my parents. She knew that we didn't talk all that much unless it was absolutely needed. So, her asking about them was a typical thing.
"Haven't spoken to them since Tuesday I think," I answered as I turned a corner.
"Do you think they'll let you go to the football game tonight?" she asked.
"They don't care what I do or where I go, so I don't even need to bring it up to them," I answered. "Are we really going to the football game tonight?"
"What else is there to do on a Friday night?" she shrugged. "It'll be fun,"
"I'll think about it," I said pulling into the student parking lot of the school.
I shut off the car, grabbed my phone from the cupholder, and got my backpack from the backseat of my car. I hopped out of the car and put my keys into my jeans pocket.
Aspyn and I walked up to the main entrance of the school and went inside. We walked to where our lockers were at the other end of the school. Coincidently, Aspyn, Brynley, and my locker are all right next to each other. It was nice knowing that we could always catch up with each other if we didn't have the same class.
"Where is Brynley?" I said as I took out my algebra textbook.
Brynley was always waiting at our lockers before Aspyn or I were even at school. So when she wasn't here, there was either something wrong with her, or she decided to skip school. I'm going with the latter.
"She wanted to skip today," Aspyn answered.
"Of course she did," I sighed.
"Hey, uh, Spencer?" I heard from behind me.
"What do you want Dylan?"
Dylan was my cousin. He is a freshman this year. Let me tell you something. He annoys me any chance he can get. Almost after every period, he will bug me about something whether I cared or not. I usually never did, but he told me something anyway.
"I need a ride home today," he said leaning against a nearby locker.
"Shouldn't you have practice tonight?" I asked finally looking over at him.
Dylan was also on the school's football team. I wouldn't say he's the best player on the team, but he was pretty decent. If you looked at the rest of the freshman players and even most of the sophomore players, he was amazing.
"There's a game tonight, remember? There is no practice,"
"Get one of your junior or senior football buddies to take you home," I said shutting my locker.
"They all have better things to do after school," he sighed.
"And you think I don't have anything better to do after school?"
"I mean you hang out with your two friends, so I assumed you didn't have anything important to do," he shrugged. "Please just take me home today, I don't want to ride the bus," he continued to beg.
"If you're not here by 2:45, then you get to take the bus, now leave me alone, I don't want to be associated with you any longer,"
Our last class ends at 2:40 p.m so it shouldn't be hard for him to be at my locker on time. I just hope that he somehow doesn't make it and then I won't have to bring him home. He always relied on me to drive him home when he clearly knows that I hate doing it. It was way out of my way to drive to his house.
"You ready to go to algebra now? Before we're late and I'll want to skip it?" Aspyn asked taking me out of my thoughts.
"I guess," I said as I began following her down the hallway towards my least favorite class. "Why do they even make us learn algebra anyway? We're not going to use it after high school," I complained as we entered the classroom.
"I don't understand either," Aspyn agreed with my statement as we made our way to the back of the classroom.
We almost always sat in the far back of every class we had. We weren't the ones to really participate in anything school-wise. The teachers even knew that about us. They let us talk the entire class as long as they knew that we would get our work done at some point.
"Alright, class," the teacher addressed us. "We're going to continue learning about the Pythagorean theorem,"
This was my queue to zone out completely.

I recently got a job so that will be taking up most of my time. Whenever I have a day off I'll try my best to write so I can continue to update.
