I quickly parked, turning my car off. I took a deep breath while wiping away any stray tears, but knowing my red eyes were very visible. Anyone could tell I had been crying just by getting a glimpse at my appearance. The thing was though, I just didn't care.
I held my keys and phone in my left hand as I opened the car door with my right. I stepped out of the car, slamming the door behind me. I walked up the short driveway and up to the front door. I knocked on the door twice before I let myself in.
"Aspyn!" I yelled as I shut the door behind me and took my shoes off.
I was close with Aspyn's family, so they didn't mind if I just come and go as I pleased. It was something normal I did. I may not do it so often, but when I do, they know it was because I didn't want to be at my house and needed to be somewhere else. Their house just so happened to be that safe place for me to go.
"Hey honey," Aspyn's mother said as I entered the kitchen.
"Is Aspyn home?" I asked, hoping she wouldn't comment on the state I was currently in.
"She's up in her room, honey," she smiled. "Stay as long as you need,"
"Thank you, Mary," I weakly smile before leaving the kitchen to head to the staircase.
I ran up the stairs two at a time. I walked down the hallway, passing a few rooms before I came to the last room. I opened up the door making Aspyn turn her head in my direction. I came into the room, shutting the door behind me with my back.
As soon as I looked into Aspyn's eyes, I began shutting down. The tears began flowing as if they hadn't stopped. I made my way over to her bed, flopping down.
"That bad?" She asked as she began playing with my hair.
"Mhm," I sniffled.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" She hesitantly asked.
I shot right up, leaning against my elbows, "How the hell is she even a mother? I mean, just look at how she treats me and listen to the things she says to me!" I yell.
"I know, I know," she sighed, listening to what I had to say. "Just one more year until you turn 18 and then you can move out,"
"I just don't understand how she can be considered a mother when she always says these hurtful things to me," I scoffed. "She said that she has always been there for me but when I brought up the many things she wasn't, she said nothing. Absolutely nothing," I thought back to the conversation I had just 10 minutes ago.
I didn't even want to think about it anymore, but I knew talking about it made me feel a whole lot better.
"She even brought up my car!" I yelled. "Saying how she's the one that bought it! I bought it with the guilt money she leaves me every other week! Who even does that? Leaves their child thousands of dollars in place for themselves? I would've rather had my mother home to spend time with rather than the endless money supply in my bank account," I continue to rant. "I'm just so done with her,"
That was my final straw. I finally fully broke down over everything that went down with my mom. I just couldn't handle it anymore. I never could, really.
Aspyn rubbed up and down my back, trying to calm me down. It helped me more than I thought it could. It just finally felt nice to know that someone truly cared about how I felt. I've never felt that all too much.
"You have a year left. A little less than that, actually," she stated. "Stay here as much as you need to, my parents won't mind," she lightly smiled.
