CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT
• YOU SCARED ME •
"finally..." millie sighs, "everything is set and done." she murmurs as she looks at the ticked off checklist.
everything on there was done and finished.
everything loose end tied.
everything prepared.
and every note written.
her head hit her countertop with a huff and her eyes shut. finn was the only loose end she had left.
but honestly, she left it as perfect as she could. ignoring him, ignoring his smile, ignoring his gaze, ignoring his calls, ignoring his texts.
hopefully, he would give up and move on and hopefully he would forget her.
these last months was her favourite. maybe it was because she met him or maybe it was because she got closer with the boys but either way.. it was the best time of her life.
now as she lift up her head from the countertop, she looked around the apartment and inhaled her last moments here. was it selfish to end it all here?
or was it stupid?
she did not know.
she placed away her stacks of paper neatly, a stack so neat that if you have just walked past you might not even notice. that's how she wanted it to be though, a mystery. a mystery as to where her notes would be placed.
but that's not the matter right now.
now mechanically, her legs led her to her bathroom of her room and her hands gradually turned the tap on of her tub.
the tub started to fill up with burning water and she kneels down besides it with the side of her face laid down on the side.
as the tub fills up halfway, she finally stands up and hops inside. maybe it was the steam in the suffocating room that was making tears run down her cheeks or maybe it was because she forgot to say goodbye to finn.
she had no idea how this sudden idea had came across her. she did not know how it all started but it did.
either way, there's no turning back.
she lays down inside the tub and curls up into a ball and hugs herself. the burning water begins to cover her face and that's when her vision changes.
but she doesn't choke, at least not yet. she was only down there to enjoy her moment. well, her last moments.
her oxygen starts to run out as she starts to cough rapidly under the water. the amount of pain she was feeling was unexplainable.
she didn't expect drowning to be this painful but yet, she didn't seem to hate the feeling.
and as her eyes start to blur and her coughing start to slow down, she knew it was her last moments and a smile was plastered on her lips.
but suddenly, air hit her like a truck and that's when she realised she was getting carried out of the boiling water. she coughs harshly and holds onto her chest as all the air starts to rush through her lungs.
