6. Old lover

I reached cafe at 6:10, she must be in there already. I parked the car and went inside the cafe, I look around for a while to see her sitting at the corner on the right side. When she look up, she waved at me. I went up to her and sat in front of her on the chair.

"Hey" she greeted.

"Hi, what's up? What do you want to talk about" I asked straight to the point.

"Um actually, I want to tell you about something, more like ask you about something?" She giggles nervously.

"Well then ask?" I said.

As she was about to say something, a waitress came with our cold coffee.
Mia must have ordered for me too.

"Okay, you were saying.." I said once waitress went away.

"Actually I got an offer from some designer to work for them and it's a very big opportunity for me, but I am not sure if I should go for it or not?" she told me.

"Wow It's a good thing then why are you so nervous about it. Of course you should go for it" I smiled lightly at her. I am happy for her.

"Yeah I know, it's just that designer.." she started but then stopped.

"Who's the designer?" I asked sipping my drink.

"Um it's Christina Forbes, your mother" she said and I sat there blank, not knowing what to say.

"Yeah I know you dont like her that's why I wanted to ask you if I should go for it. I know you won't like me working for your mother. I am sorry, I shouldn't even ask you about it. I will refuse it. Dont worry.." she told me rambling nervously.

"Mia will you stop?" I intervened and she stops abruptly.

"Hey it's okay if you want to work for her you can. It's completely upto you. I am happy for you. I know you like her alot" I said. When she was about to speak again I started speaking again.

"And if you still want to ask me then I will say you should go for it. I dont have any problem but just dont become like her. How much I hate her but I can't ignore the fact that she is an amazing designer so you should take up the offer" I said.

"Thank you calista" she genuinely smiled at me.

"Okay now shut up" I told her smiling at her.

Then we start talking about some other stuff when she looked behind at someone and stopped talking.

"Who is it?" I asked her, from her expressions I can tell its definitely someone I don't like.

"Its trevor, and he is coming here." She told me.

I groaned. Not him again. We know each other since middle school and he likes me since then. I have rejected him like hundred times but he don't get the meaning of no. He is so stubborn, its not like he is ugly or something. He was one of the popular guy in high school. Then he went to London for college, so thankfully I didn't see him for four years and now he is back. Let's pray he is over me or else I will kill him.

He came to our table.

"Hi trevor" Mia greeted him

"Hey Mia" he greeted back then turn towards me.

"Hi calista, you are as beautiful as ever" he said smiling at me.

"Hi and uh thanks?" I said more like asked. I dont like getting compliments.

"Can I sit with you guys?" He asked to Mia. Because he know I will say no. And Mia being Mia said yes. She always want me to be with him. But I never wanted any type of relationship with anyone. Relationship asks for drama and I am not up for that shit.

He then sat beside Mia opposite to me. Good choice. He started talking to Mia but I ignored them both and enjoyed my coffee. But I can feel his gaze on my face, I look up to see him gazing at me.

"What?" I asked annoyed.

"Uh nothing" he got embarrassed.

"How are you doing?" He asked.

"I am doing good. What about you?" I asked him.

"I am good. I just came back today, from tomorrow I am going to start going to office with dad." He told me somewhat proud.

"Good for you" I said nonchalantly.

"You haven't changed a bit" he said staring at me intently.

"Yes I am still the same and my feelings are also the same" I said giving stress on feelings. I know he gets it by the way he stops smiling.

"Oh, I will see you later" he said and stood up to go.

Intelligent boy.

"Probably not" I mumbled but I think he heard.

"Yeah sure bye" Mia said smiling at him.

When he was out, Mia turns towards me staring at me. Like a mother will stare at you when you do something wrong.

"What?" I asked her.

"You know you shouldn't be that rude" she said

"He deserves it, like how was he staring at me. He hasn't moved on even after four years. Like come on four years are a long time" I said irritated at him.

"Yes because he loved you. When you love someone it is difficult for you to move on" she told me.

"I never told him to love me. I even tried to set him up with some good girl but he is so stubborn"

"You should give him a chance. And about love it just happens, you have no control over it"

"No I dont like him. And about love, that sucks." I retorted

"What if you ever fall in love with someone?" Mia asked.

"I will never, firstly I have very strong self control. And secondly you don't fall in things you dont believe in" I said as a matter of fact.

"You know you are impossible" she said somewhat irritated.

"Come on tell me if ever you fall in love what you will do" she asked again.

"If you really want to know then I will tell you. If I ever liked someone I will make him mine" I said arrogantly.

She looked at me dumbfounded.

"And if he doesn't love you back?" She said.

"Who wouldn't like me, I am beautiful and these days people only go for looks." I state facts.

"Not everyone is like that" she told me.

"But tell me if you ever like someone and they don't share those feelings with you what would you do?" She insisted again.

"Then I will let them go." I said not thinking much.

"Its easier to say then done" she said.

"Okay stop it now, let's go" I said and stood up. I paid our bill.

"You know I will pray to God that if you ever fall in love with someone then they will love you back too" she said before standing.

"Well thank you my dear best friend" I bow at her. And then we both started laughing.

"Should I drop you at your place?" I asked her when I see she hasn't brought her car.

"No Tyler will be here to pick me" she told me blushing like a tomato.

Tyler is her boyfriend, they are together since high school. They are madly in love with each other. I am happy that she is happy. I have warned Tyler so many times that if he ever broke her heart I will kill him. I don't like him that much but if she is happy then I am no one to say anything to destroy her happiness.

"Okay. See you later "

Then I went to my car to go to my house.
