44: Visit

He wasn't sure he was ready for this. It's so sudden that it doesn't even feel real. But having recovered from the major issues and being stable enough to move means it's back to prison tomorrow. So today is the only chance for Jungkook to meet his father in the fresh open air.

"Hyung...do you think this is a good idea?" Jungkook gulps. His rapidly tapping foot and widened eyes clearly demonstrating his nervousness. The man sitting hastily on the ward chair, watches him stare out the window unable to keep still. "I haven't seen my dad in such a long time..." His voice trails off in thought of the last memories they shared. Hundreds of things gush through Jungkook's mind at the thought of seeing the man who abandoned him. Emotions were never his thing. Unable to express or understand them, he just doesn't know what to respond to this news.

Seokjin bites his lip at the complicated situation, unable to imagine just how Jungkook is feeling. Silently standing up, he came over to place a soft hand on his shoulder. "Jungkook, remember if you don't think your ready to see him then that's ok. You don't have to. No one is forcing you to," Jin says gently in hopes of helping Jungkook relax just a little bit. "The relationship between you two will never be the same but at least you have the chance to build a connection again. So you know there's someone else to support you."

"But that's the thing," Jungkook whines feeling as if no one could possibly understand. "What if my dad still doesn't want to support me?" He says on the brink of tears knowing he won't be able to handle it if it's the case. "I'm-I'm not part of his life anymore. He didn't say goodbye to me, hyung!" Jungkook exclaims. "Do you what it's like to come home from a normal day of school to find your toys and belonging all packed up ready for you to be thrown out of the house because mum had been cheating for years?" Jungkook cries out, gulping down tears as his childhood flashed in his mind. "I did nothing yet my dad made me pay the price for my mother's actions. I didn't even get to say goodbye...He just left me," Jungkook coughs down his sobs as those moments still felt so vivid and unforgettable. The day my life turned around.
"He just threw me in the dustbin the same way he threw my belongings on the lawn. My mum was the monster and I understood that he wanted to get rid of anything to do with her...but he forgot...that I was his son too."

Running his hands through his hair, Jungkook takes a shaky breath. Nothing could remove the hatred and sorrow he had for the one who abandoned him. "I'm scared, hyung. I'm nervous."

"And it's ok to be," Jin replies in his brotherly manner, calmly rubbing his younger's back. Jungkook again takes a deep breath trying to calm himself down which helped to have his hyung's arm around him. "I don't mind the idea of having a connection with my dad again," he starts to say. "But what if he's the one who's not ready? After all...he's only coming because Taehyung made him."

"No," Seokjin shakes his head wanting to get rid of such a thought immediately. "Taehyung reached out to him first. But your dad agreed to come and meet you. He wouldn't have if he wasn't ready to see you."

Jungkook silently gazed out the window for a moment. The lush green leaves which cut through the white hospital walls as people gathered to see loved one went in and out. This was his only chance...for the next 6 years will be behind bars again. "Your right...And maybe I am ready for this."

I gingerly pace back and forth outside in the front yard of Tae's house, trying to calm my nerves about seeing Jungkook's father. It's not working. It's hard to debate whether to stay silent and let Jungkook talk or drag him by the ear scream at his face. Hands on hips and my gaze hardly fixed on the ground, I attempt to imagine who this jerk will look like. Taehyung silently watches out of the corner of his eye, leaning against the front door with arms crossed. Impatiently tapping his foot against the concrete as Jiyun sits on the doorstep. The plan is to meet here but Taehyung said not to spend too much time talking to him and let Jungkook see him.
