It's official I am never going on a mission with Jesse again. I had thought he could be civilized and on his best behavior, but of course I forgot who I had asked to come with me as my plus one.

I had been asked to come as extra security after my close friend had been attacked.

"(Y/n)! Thanks for coming!" She said as she walked up to me and hugged me.

"Senator, it was no problem." I said as I shot her a smile.

"Oh stop it. Now introduce me."

"This is Arc Trooper Jesse of the 501st. He's a good friend of mine."

"Best friend." Jesse said as he took her hand and kissed it.

"Kix is my best friend." I said playfully.

He rolled his eyes and I sent him a smile.

"Please enjoy yourselves. I have to go talk to everyone." She said as she turned and walked away from us.

Halfway through the gala I spotted her on the dance floor and shook my head.

"I wish I could get closer. I hate being so far." I said softly.

"I have an idea, but you'll hate it." Jesse said as he shot me a smirk.

"Jesse-"

"Just follow my lead it will be fun." Jesse said as he grabbed my hand and dragged me behind him.

"Please don't let those be the words carved into my tombstone." I mumbled as I followed behind him.

He dragged me onto the dance floor and I sent him a glare.

"No-"

"Shut up and dance with me." He said as he pulled me against his chest.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and allowed him to pull me closer.

"Remind me to thank your friend." Jesse said after awhile.

"For what? Getting attacked?" I asked with a laugh.

"Yea, I mean if she hadn't got attacked then I wouldn't get to have you pressed against me."

If you wanted that you could of just asked.

He pulled away and shot me a smirk.

"I said that out loud didn't I?" I asked as I looked away.

"Yep."

I hid my face in his shoulder and he let out a laugh.

"But really, I'm just happy to get to spend time with you." Jesse said softly.

I pulled away and looked up at him.

"I like spending time with you too." I said softly.

"Just kiss already."

Our eyes went wide and I quickly realized that we were still on comms with the 501st.

"Do it cowards."

"Fives shut up and leave them alone!"

"They were so close to admitting they liked each other and you fucked it up."

We both let out a laugh and shook our heads. Jesse sent me a wink and turned off our comms.

"What are you-"

He cut me off by leaning down and gently kissing me. I had expected the kiss to be sexual and full of longing, but it was full of love and slow and passionate. It was ten times better then what I had imagined.

"Didn't want them to know." He whispered against my lips.

I sent him a smile and pulled him into another kiss.
