Chapter 7

CHAPTER 7

I watched Finn and Mia, sleeping side by side on the couch in Liam's living room. I saw their tiny chests rise and fall with each breath. They seemed peaceful and calm as they slept, almost like different kids entirely. I had my own knees tight to my chest. I sat in a sort of ball as Liam and I sat in silence. He had his arm around me, but I didn't curl into him like normal. I stayed stiffly in my spot. "At least they got to bed before 7:30," Liam mumbled. They had gotten to bed just on time, just not in their beds. I looked down at my watch, it was almost 8:30 now. "We should bring them home," I told Liam. He agreed with me silently and got to his feet. "Who do you want to take?" Liam asked me. I shrugged my shoulders. Liam went to pick up Finn, him being the heavier of the two. But he woke up, "Mmhm...Brooklyn?" He mumbled as Liam picked him up. He rubbed his eyes and yawned. "I think he wants you," Liam whispered then passed Finn into my arms. He fell right back asleep as he rested his head on my shoulder. Liam picked up Mia and she only stirred slightly, then curled up against Liam's chest and began sleeping soundly again.

As we walked outside I couldn't help but see how cute Mia looked in Liam's arms, almost like he was her protective older brother. I could see him as the kind that would hold her when she's hurt and say everyday that he hated her but as soon as someone laid a hand on her he would protect her with everything he had.

I looked down at Finn sleeping in my own arms as we walked on the beach. I only hoped that he would keep his sister safe. Through anything and everything, he needed to be there for her. She was his little sister, even by only a couple minutes, and he needed to protect her from things that might hurt her. He should be willing to do anything for his sister, because she is his other half, no one will ever love him as much as his sister.

Once we got to the house, we slipped through the doors and made our way to the twins bedroom. I placed Finn down in his bed as Liam tucked Mia in. Finn went down easy, he didn't wake once. So I placed his arms across his stomach and gave his forehead a soft kiss. Then I walked over to Mia's bed to find she was awake, looking up at Liam. He was quieting her trying to get her to sleep. "Mia, go back to sleep," I said, coming up beside Liam. "But," she yawned, "I have to...ask you something Brooklyn..." She yawned again. I looked up at Liam I saw the corners of his lips form a small smile. He left the room and I sat down with Mia. She looked up at me, "You're beautiful," she said. I smiled, "Not as beautiful as you sweetie." "Does Liam say you're beautiful?" She asked me. I found myself surprised at the question, she was a smart four year old. "I think he has a few times..." I told her. "Does he tell you every day?" She asked me. "No," I said, still not seeing where she's getting at. "Liam, you should tell her how beautiful she is whenever you think about her," she said. I was confused but then I followed her gaze and saw Liam standing in the door way. "Whenever I'm thinking about her?" He asked. Mia nodded her head. "Brooklyn," he said. My eyes found his, "You're beautiful." I heard Mia giggle, "Brooklyn!" She whispered. I turned back to her. She motioned for me to lean in and as I did, she whispered in my ear, "He's thinking about you." I felt my cheeks become warm. I smiled at Mia, "Good night, sweetie," I said kissing her forehead. She smiled and sunk down under her covers, "Good night," she mumbled. I stood and walked towards the door, "She's-" Liam tried to say but I put my index finger over his lips, "Shh," I said, looking back at Mia. I gently pushed Liam into the hallway and silently closed the door behind me. "She's so adorable," Liam said. I smiled. Right then I heard a car door slam outside, "Donna and Mark are home," I said. We went over to the front door to meet them.

Donna came in with a smile while Mark came in looking tired. "Hi," she said quietly, "Are they sleeping?" I nodded my head. "How were they?" She asked. "They were great," Liam spoke up, "absolutely great." Donna smiled, "I'm glad, did you all have fun? What did you do?" I smiled back, "We had lots of fun, we went for a walk and stopped by at Liam's house, they decided to eat dinner there-" "Oh, guys you didn't have to sacrifice your food, we had tons here!" Donna said cutting me off. I chuckled. "It's okay, really," Liam said, "I didn't mind at all." Donna pursed her lips. "And then they stayed at Liam's for a while and watched a movie, they fell asleep on their own at around 7:30, and we just brought them back." "Oh that's perfect!" Donna said, "Thank you so much! How much would you like?" She asked. Liam and I exchanged confused glances. "Pardon?" I asked. "How much money would you like for babysitting?" She said. I looked at Liam with wide eyes, "Donna it's fine you don't have to give us anything," I told her. "But you did me such a huge favour!" "A favour that's what we did, Donna I don't want you to pay us...keep your money." "Are you sure?" She asked skeptically. I nodded my head. "Well okay then," she said, putting her wallet away. I took Liam's hand in mine, "Well we should get going. Enjoy the rest of your night!" "Good night!" Donna and mark called to us. "Bye!" Both Liam and I said in unison.

With that, we left through the patio door and headed down to the beach. Once we got to the sand. I went left towards Liam's house as he went right towards my house. Our joined hands pulled us back together. "I thought we were going to your house?" Liam said. "I don't want to go home yet, I thought we were going to your house?" I responded. I couldn't hold back my laugh, I let it escape and Liam looked at me in confusion. "What's so funny, love?" He said. "We both don't want to go to our own house," I told him between giggles. "And that's funny...because?" He teased. I found myself laughing harder, "I don't know!" Liam smiled, "You're too cute," he said pulling me close by my hands and kissing my forehead. He stepped away and kept hold of one hand, spinning me around. "I don't think I'm ready to say goodnight," Liam said. I laughed, "Then lets go!" I let go of his hand and ran away from him. He laughed and ran after me.

Once he caught up he threw an arm around my waist and grabbed me, lifting me up and spinning so he could put me down behind him. I let out a scream as my feet left the ground. My hair whirled around into my face and I felt Liam's arms around me. He set me down and ran ahead. "Hey!" I screamed in laughter. He looked back at me laughing, almost tripping on his own two feet. I ran after him and as I caught up I jumped onto his back. He stumbled slightly, then we fell to the soft sand. I was in a fit of giggles as Liam tossed sand over my bare legs. He was laughing too as I threw a handful of sand at his chest. I must have gotten some in his mouth because he was spitting it out. "That's it, Blondie!" He said. I shook my head no as I continued laughing. He picked me up bridal style and walked toward the water. The waves were crashing up on the beach as he held me over the water. "No-o-o-o!" I screamed in laughter. I gripped his neck and shoulders tightly, hiding my face in his neck. He chuckled, "Oh, what? You don't want to go in?" I shook my head furiously, "Liam, please!" I said, kicking my feet back and forth in an act of fear. "Only if you tell me you love me," he said with a smirk. "What?" I said. "I will let you down if you tell me you love me," he said. I looked at him as if he was crazy, "Liam you already know I love you!" He shook his head, "I want to hear you say it again!" He said. I sighed, "I love you," I said, "Now let me down!" Liam shook his head, "You didn't mean that!" I laughed, "Liam Payne?" I said. "Yes?" He said. "Can I tell you something?" I asked. He looked at me with that smirk, "Of course!" "It's a secret! You can't tell ANYONE!" I told him. He laughed, "I promise." I pulled him close and leaned towards his ear, "You are my entire world, Liam...I love you."
