While Kith was resting in bed, Erin went to the kitchen to get him a drink. She grabbed a bottled water in the fridge and gave it to him.

"Thanks" he said.

"How's your leg?" she asked in a concerned tone.

"It still hurts when I move it." he answered.

She sat beside him. "I can't believe a father could do this to his own son." she said in a bitter tone.

"He found out I was keeping money from him. He punched me, and kicked me when I refused to admit it. Then... he threw the boiling water from the teapot at my leg... He also suspected me of seeing someone. That's why I decided to leave. I don't want him to know about you... I'm sorry." he told her in a sad voice, looking down.

She held his hand. "Let's figure out something else. Let's not choose to destroy our relationship. That won't fix the problem. I'm sure there's another way." she replied earnestly.

He sighed. "You scared me when you said you would crash your car. You're not serious about that, right?" he asked.

She looked down and did not answer. When he didn not say anything, she looked back at him. He was still staring at her with a serious look on his face. She pouted and clung to his arm like a kid thinking that she made him angry.

"Never say things like that again." he told her.

"Then, don't try to leave me again." she replied in an upset tone, throwing a little tantrum.

"I won't." he replied calmly.

She looked back at him. "Okay, I won't say that again."

"Are you sure I can stay here for a while?" he asked.

She furrowed her forehead. "For a while? ...I thought you would stay here until we graduate." she answered in a disappointed tone.

He chuckled and pinched her nose. "We can't do that right now, and I'm sure your parents won't allow it either. I'll find another place to stay when my leg got better." he told her.

"Fine, get the vacant room next to mine." she suggested.

He chuckled again.

"I'm serious." she insisted.

"I see no difference living here, or in the room next to yours." he replied.

"That's how it really should be. At least we can both sleep soundly at night knowing we're only one wall apart." she reasoned.
