The next day, Erin and Joseph met in the park. Like the first time, they practiced the two songs he wrote for her.

She learned them fast. Joseph was very impressed with how quick she could apprehend instructions. He felt very lucky and glad it was her who gave voice to his compositions.

"Can we go somewhere else after this?" he asked.

"Oh, um... Sorry, I can't go with you this time." she answered.

He was a bit disappointed. "Why not?"

"There's a friend I will meet after this." she reasoned.

He looked down and forced a smile. "I see." he replied in a low tone, then he composed himself and let out a deep breath. "Um... Erin?"

She stopped strumming her guitar and looked at him. "Hmm?"

"I like you." he confessed.

Her eyes got stuck at him for a moment. She was surprised, but also confused. She could not fully understand what he meant. "Um... Can you please elaborate on that? I don't want to get the wrong idea."

He chuckled at her reaction. He thought it was funny and cute. "I like you... in a romantic way." he clarified.

After she heard that, she felt shy and a bit awkward. She looked away for a while and gathered her thoughts.

"You don't have to give me an answer right now." he told her, seeing the bothered look on her face.

She slowly looked back at him. "Sorry... I'm really bad at this. To tell you honestly... I still don't know if I want a boyfriend or not." she admitted.

He was dismayed after he heard that, but he still kept a positive attitude because he really liked her. "I can wait until you become ready."

She was looking at his eyes as he was talking. She could see both honesty and eagerness in them. "Okay, but... I don't know when will I be ready."

"That's fine with me." he replied with a smile.

When they're done practicing the songs, they bade goodbye to each other.

Erin headed next to the park's monument circle. As she was walking, she recalled Joseph's confession. She tried to convince herself to like him back. She put all the good things about him in her mind, and told herself repeatedly that he would be a good boyfriend to her.

"Nope, this is not gonna work." she murmured when she did not succeed in changing what her heart really feels.

When she arrived at the place, she immediately spotted Kith waiting beside the statue. She smiled and quickly forgot about Joseph. As she was walking towards him, she noticed something different about him. She stopped.
