It was pitch black when he shook me awake. I grumbled feeling him moving my body around whispering my name. "Hmm?" I groaned out rubbing my eyes not being able to see much.
"Get up," he told me his voice low.
"What?" I asked again feeling more awake.
Something was thrown on top of me. "Change."
I sat up feeling my clothes in my hands, "Did you go through my stuff?" Like that actually mattered at this point. I heard him sigh. "Okay, okay." I climbed to my feet slowly changing into the clothes he picked out for me. It was warmer clothing; jeans, long-sleeve t-shirt, a sweater, long socks, and a coat. "Where are we going?" I asked as he handed me my boots.
"I want to show you something."
"Outside?" I asked again as he led me out of my room. He didn't respond as I followed him through the house. It was so dark everywhere I had to keep a death grip on the banister to not fall down. He finally took it upon himself to slow down and throw his hand behind him to guide me. I smiled in the dark. We hit the bottom floor and he led me off to the left. He stopped and pushed a side door open that led outside; he motioned for me to go. I obeyed and took a single step my foot crunching in the snow.
His hand caught my shoulder. "Wait." He disappeared for a moment and then shoved something on me head. "There." It was a hat. His fingers trailed along the band of the hat tucking pieces of my hair away gazing at my face. Then he followed me out closing the door behind me. He grabbed my hand again and took off along the side of the house stopping right beside the garage.
"What time is it?" I asked hearing the faint noise of birds chirping.
He didn't respond. "Stay here." He walked away and turned towards the other side of the garage where I couldn't see him. I heard him moving something, and then an engine roared to life. His head peeked out from the side, "Okay come on." I was so confused as I walked forward and turned seeing the motorbike rumbling in the garage.
I raised an eyebrow. "Where?"
He walked towards me putting a helmet on my head. "I told you already; I want to show you something." I stared up at him as his hand came up to cup my cheek, "Do you trust me?"
I slowly nodded as he leaned down and kissed me.
"Take this." He handed me a small back pack and led me to the bike. He got on first and helped me throw my leg over the bike's seat. "Hold on tight." I wrapped my arms around his waist as he kicked the stand up and revved the engine.
And then we took off down the road.
The air bit as we rode down the street my hair flying all around underneath the helmet. I squealed and gripped him tighter pressing the side of my head into his back. It was still a little dark out but I could see the trees flying by us. I glanced up over our heads the blackness of the night sky beginning to turn dark blue. I closed my eyes feeling his body vibrate underneath me. I tried to save this memory into my brain cherishing these small moments I had with him.
He took a right turn and sped up. I was starting to see our surroundings a bit more as he revved the engine to go uphill. My hands loosened on him straightening up to glance behind us. The air was cold but felt so good in my lungs, just being in the world with him felt good. He took another turn and I felt the bike begin to slow down. "You doing okay?" He asked over his shoulder as the engine quieted.
"Yes." I said close to his ears as he stopped turning the bike off. He kicked the stand down again, and climbed off. He placed one of his hands on my waist and lifted me up off the bike just to set me right back on the ground again. "Thanks." I muttered as he unbuckled the helmet and took it off my head.
