Saying the atmosphere between the maknaes was weird, tense and depressing was an understatement.
None of them really talked aside of professional things, Maya's words resonating in their minds.
She was breaking a bond that lasted longer than eight years, it was hard to face the reality.
If she was starting to feel herself getting in touch with her feelings again, they were the ones who started to doubt their actions.
Was it really love or an obsession ?
They knew her for a long time, but started having feelings for her a year ago, got into a relationship that fell into pieces, putting the group at risk of disbandment multiple times but most importantly, ended up destroying her.
They didn't want to admit it, but they changed Maya forever, both for the best and the worst.
She was still the same, in a sense, flirty and sarcastic. However, something had changed about her.
She seemed genuinely happy, which was good, but the part of them that loved her was disturbed to see her walk around the dorm, FaceTiming her infamous 'secret lover'.
Only Jimin, Taehyung and more recently Yoongi knew who that was.
She told Yoongi herself, and frankly, he wasn't very supportive.
Not that he wanted to see her date someone of their own group, but dating between idols was already hard enough, so let alone someone from another group.
He knew she liked Jaehyun, but he also felt like the reason they weren't dating wasn't busy schedules but Maya being skeptical about getting into a relationship.
After all, the first time she ever got into a more or less serious relationship, that's when everything went downhill.
Yoongi was like the angel behind Maya, listening and observing, but he knew there was some things he shouldn't say, to not disturb her.
These are things she should find out alone.
For instance, there was no way she loved Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook the same, she didn't see it, but he did.
She did love them, he didn't doubt that, but certainly not at the same level.
If he had to describe it, he'd say that she set different standards for each of them.
The disavantages of living with each other for so long were that she knew what they were capable of, and they knew it too, which means no parties will settle for less.
Because when it was less, it was beyond disappointing.
She knew Taehyung would risk it all, for instance, when he suggested to sneak out in Hawaii, or when he kissed her neck quite sensually in the middle of a live. He had no problem being affectionate in places people could see them, he didn't care about people's eyes as long as he got hers on him.
However, his jealousy and possessive nature disappointed her. His lack of maturity in that range disturbed her, the way he'd just ignore her when something didn't go his way.
She knew Jimin was a good listener and an alive human-sized plush. He'd always hug her and listen to her, even though he wasn't the one she'd run to for these things, it was more the kind of relationship she had with Yoongi. There wasn't a minute Jimin didn't want to cuddle, or tell her sweet nothings that would make her blush and feel flustered, like he did over the phone recently.
But he disappointed her by gaslighting her into doing what he wants to do.
She knew Jungkook would fight the whole world if someone ever disappointed her, like when he was ready to argue with the head of the company when they threatened to kick her out over rumors. She didn't call him 'sweet boy' for nothing, he was literally a marshmallow for her, always looking for her attention and affection.
Nevertheless, his lack of self-control made her feel like he let her down, without talking about his bad habbit to brag about people like they were objects, as if he 'owned' them.
On the other hand, they also knew her, and were also disappointed.
Taehyung knew she always felt comfortable with him. Ever since he joined the group, back in the days they'd share snacks from their hometown together, or whenever they'd talk until they felt tired when they were jetlagged during Tour. He knew that she hated people touching her if she didn't initiated the contact, yet she'd always melt in his arms, or accept his forehead kisses.
That's exactly how he felt betrayed and disappointed, because they always had that special bond, and now it wasn't exclusive to him anymore. He felt like Maya let him down, he felt left apart and alone.
Jimin knew she was matching his flirty energy. He knew how she always put her members before her and valued how she cares about others, how she always made them feel special and appreciated. He also knew and admired how she always did things with all of her heart, driven by passion.
However, the part where he got disappointed was her incapacity to communicate her feelings. It's already important in a monogamous relationship, so he thought that before accepting to date three people, she should've thought more, especially when they were willing to give her time after they talking about this possibility.
Jungkook knew the way she cared about him, like a mother, almost. He knew she'd always take his side for anything, he knew she'd always have the right words to reassure him and make him feel okay. If the sky was to fall, she'd do just like Atlas and carry it on her shoulders, holding it up just for him.
What disappointed him was that he didn't feel like he was the only one she'd carry the sky on her shoulders for anymore. When they began to date, he felt thrown away like a dirty tissue, even though he was clearly the one who made the most efforts to be seen as a man and not some kid in need of affection.
They all had expectations and all got disappointed, and Yoongi always thought they were kind of stupid for that.
The boys couldn't be in a relation that involved four people and expect to be the center of her world, just like Maya couldn't have three boyfriends that literally did cold war for her and expect them to appreciate and tolerate sharing the same girl.
Everything got messy because they didn't thought it through, and if they listened to Yoongi from the start, they wouldn't have reached this point.
Yoongi sighed, ruffling his hair.
'Maybe I should put them on the right path..'
