The bell ending lunch rang interrupting the conversation the three of us were enduring.
Casey walked over to figure out what our plans were.
"Are you headed to class?" She looked at Pierce and I. "You feeling any better?"
"Babe?" Pierce looked at me.
"I'll be okay." I stood up. "It was nice getting to know you." I smiled at the freshman girl.
"Class it is." Pierce said looking at his sister.
"You were going to class either way boy." Casey glared at her brother. The truth was though, she would never take him away from me, even if it meant missing class. Casey knew I needed Pierce to feel... normal.
"You can think that sis." Pierce smiled as he grabbed my hand and walked me out of his sister's office.
I hated that I had to leave Pierce. I hated that he had to go sit next to Ally for the next two periods until I got him again. How was she lucky enough to get almost every single one of her classes with him? I guess being around him all that time is what made her pick him.
Nevertheless, I went off to class and joined my brother as Pierce joined the devil. I knew that she was going to be all over him the entire period and that just grinded my gears. I couldn't focus at all. Which was something I never struggled with. I could always get my head in the game when it came to school work. No matter the pain, no matter the feelings. School was something I could count on.
As Reece sat next to me taking down the notes our teacher was spewing onto the board in the front of the room, my mind sat screaming at the blonde girl who was my boyfriend's ex. I was mentally wrapping my hands around her throat. I knew how awful it was to think so horribly about someone, but I couldn't help myself. The girl literally broke my fucking hand. She was just as mentally insane as I was. The only difference is I could admit it, I could blame it on my past. She- she had no excuse.
"Sis." Reece nudged my arm with his elbow as he spoke quiet so the teacher couldn't hear.
"Yeah?" I replied just as quiet back.
Reece tapped my notebook and went back to writing in his. The page of my notebook was completely empty. I hadn't written a single word down since entering the classroom. This was just how the rest of the day was going to go. I would have been better off sitting in the nurse's office talking with Casey than sitting in this classroom.
I looked down at my notebook and flipped the book closed. I genuinely didn't feel like caring at the moment. My actions had my brother's blood boiling next to me. I see it in the way his body tensed up next to me. The way the sleeved of his polo shirt tightened around his bicep showed it all.
"Charlee Leighton open that god damn notebook and take your fucking notes." Reece said through gritted teeth. Again, only loud enough for me to hear.
"It's Baker-Leighton." I gritted back.
"Notes." Reece grabbed my notebook and opened it to a blank page and shoved the notebook across the table to me.
I gave him a thumbs up and doodled at the top of the blank page. I didn't take my eyes of the notebook to copy down the notes. I just doodled.
As class finished Reece was yearning to give me a mouth full. I could tell by the huffing and puffing I had to listen to the rest of class. I knew that Pierce would save me. The moment I walked out of the classroom I would be met by the boy who has always rescued me.
The bell rang and Reece started to go into a monologue about my future and my life. I shut my ears off and ignored the words he was mumbling on about. I left him as he spoke to head to meet Pierce between our classes. Reece followed closely on my heels continuing to try and get me to listen. It just wasn't going to happen, especially when Pierce entered my view.
