I fell asleep in the arms of the boy I loved, ignoring the rules given for the night. I was never woken up, not even by the twins. Everyone was at peace for one night. Letting all worries and dramas slip away, at least for tonight.
The next morning, I woke up to the movement of Pierce beneath my head. My hand curved its way around his torso, holding him tight to me. A light groggy chuckle left him as his hand ran softly through my hair. "Good morning sleepy head."
I looked up at Pierce with a smile spread across my face. "How'd you sleep?"
"Incredible." Pierce shifted blow me, sitting up, letting my head drop into his lap. He continued to run his fingers gently through my hair, pushing the hair back from my face.
"How'd we pull this one off?" I rolled over, getting a better look at Pierce's bed head. His adorable damn bed head.
"Let's just say your boyfriend here has some good looks and killer charm." Pierce pulled a smirk to his lips. "You've got both your parents wrapped around your finger Charlee. Especially your dad."
"Really?" I smiled a little. I never thought of all people that my dad would be the one I had wrapped around my finger. I knew that my mom would let me get away with most things. But my dad was always the straight faced, no emotion type, ever since I arrived.
"Yeah, David walked in last night. You were out cold and I was just watching a movie. Well, more I was admiring how peaceful you looked awhile listening to the movie. I didn't even have to say anything actually. He just smiled at me and thanked me for making you happy. He's always had a soft spot for his daughters. From stories I've heard, Emery got away with everything too. Daddy's little girls you are."
"I would have never known. He doesn't really talk to me." I sighed, wishing I could have a connection with a father figure in my life that wasn't toxic.
"He's a quiet man. I think that's why your mom married him. She knew she would always get her way." Pierce smiled at me. "Just like you. You always get what you want baby girl."
"That's not true. I had to fight for you." I reached up, tapping my finger to the tip of his nose.
"Hardly. You know you've been mine since the day we met in that damn group home. Ally, no Ally, I'm yours." Pierced ending his sentence with a kiss to my lips.
"Are you ever going to tell me what you and her talked about while I was gone?" I looked away the moment the words left my mouth.
"You don't need to know Charlee." Pierce cocked an attitude with me, a repeat of last night.
"Okay." I ended the conversation there. But not only our conversation but our day.
Pierce left shortly after the question was asked. He didn't say goodbye. He didn't say I love you. He just grabbed his shit and left. He was clearly hiding things from me that I should know. This Pierce wasn't a Pierce I knew well at all. It was a Pierce that I didn't like.
