14 - Mocha Cake

i can't help thinking this is how it ought to be

specifically 2 months have passed. mika got adjusted to her work while jae suk visits hyori once in two weeks because hyori needed more "space" for herself.

but today, something unexpected is on their way.

"so, you're telling me that hyori allowed you to visit her every saturday?" mika spoke as she and jae suk are walking back to mika's place after buying some snacks for her family.

"every other saturday." he corrected mika, "i mean, i don't mind, as long as she's having time for her own."

"every other saturday??" jae suk nodded, "i don't think that's enough time for a relationship."

"what do you mean?" jae suk got confused.

"i mean, every other saturday? isn't that too short of a time to see her? it's only for two times a month. isn't it ridiculous? i'm sure he's behind your back doing something she's not supposed to do."

jae suk just laughed, "and what would that be?"

"i don't know, maybe she's cheating on you or something."

jae suk froze at his place and just shakes his head no, "no. hyori won't do that, i trust her. i know she wouldn't do such a thing."

"i guess you're trusting her too much." said mika, "you should try to visit her without her knowing. you know, surprise her or something." she adviced.

after a week, monday, mika just finished work and decided to go home together with jae suk since he's filmed at SBS mokdong again.

"oh oppa!" mika called jae suk walking to his car.

"oh, hey. finished your shift?" jae suk sounded cold today. he seemed like he doesn't want to talk at all.

they both got in jae suk's car but mika was bothered by jae suk's mood today, he's not the typical yoo jae suk that everybody knows.

since his manager is driving them home, mika didn't want to start any conversations until they got to mika's home to visit kwang soo.

once they got to the apartment, before they would even go inside the main entrance, mika suddenly asked him, "are you alright? you don't seem in a very good mood today."

"ah yeah, i'm fine." jae suk just replied and went inside. mika knew her best friend, jae suk is trying to avoid mika from worrying.

"are you sure you're alright?" mika asked as they both got inside the empty elevator up to their floor.

"yeah, totally." mika recognized jae suk's fake smile.

once they got inside mika's place, kwang soo and her mother isn't there to be found. she checked her phone and she missed a text from her mother saying that kwang soo is having a party with his friends while mika's mother is picking up groceries.

"i guess i can wait." jae suk said and walked to the kitchen to open the fridge.

"ya, oppa. we need to talk."

"what?"

"did something happened? you seem pretty off today."

"i told you, mika. i feel very good today, don't worry about me."

"no." mika denied and grabbed jae suk's hand to drag him on the sofa and sit down, "tell me or i'll call hyori to ask--"

"alright, alright. don't call her, okay?" jae suk sighed.

"so something did happened." mika started to feel nervous, "tell me."

it turned out that what mika said a week ago was right. he tried to give hyori a surprise visit yesterday, with flowers and chocolates on him.

but he was the one surprised.

he got into hyori's apartment since wanted to surprise her but only to see hyori in bed with a random guy, half naked and wrapped in the blanket.

he could've saved the flowers and the chocolate but gravity decided to hit him harder. that's when he decided to just leave the place.

jae suk sure was hurt, but mika was way more hurt than him. she's now seeing jae suk crying so bad just after telling the story, he must be very traumatized.

mika was indeed feeling bad for her best friend, she didn't want to see jae suk like this. the jae suk everyone knew never cries in front of someone's camera, but this time it's very different.

sure they only dated for a few months, but his dad already started his partnership with the company of hyori's dad, he doesn't want his dad to end the partnership just like that.

"o-oppa..." mika rubbed jae suk's back as he just continued to sob in so much pain.

hearing jae suk's sob from a best friend's perspective would make your blood boil of the one who made him cry. just like from kids, seeing your best friend being bullied by some older guy wants you to really charge and protect your best friend.

and it did made mika's blood boil, she wanted to go and charge at hyori for hurting her friend.

"please don't cry..." mika tried comforting him but more tears were grabbed by the gravity.

i have to do something about this.

the next day, mika headed to a café near her workplace to accidentally see a very unexpected person talking to her female friend.

it was hyori wearing a very fancy white dress talking to some friend of hers.

mika didn't plan to hesitate and just go inside the café and walk to their table. "oh, mika, hey. it's been a while." hyori greeted with a rich smile.

mika didn't replied and just grabbed the cup of water on their table to splash it on hyori's face. "what the hell?!" hyori shouted.

it caught everyone's attention, mika didn't care a single thing. "unnie? are you alright?" hyori's friend asked her and tried to grab mika but before she could even do it, mika immediately stopped her friend and looked at her very seriously.

"stay away from this or i'll beat you up too." mika warned her friend and looked back at hyori. she then saw hyori's fruit juice with loads of ice, "oh you like that? here, have some more." she grabbed it and took off the lid before slowly pouring it around hyori's head.

hyori had her jaw dropped, "i just got this from the laundry, you stupid little--" mika cuts her off.

"that's for dating my best friend." mika didn't care and just grabbed the uneaten mocha cake from the table and rubbed it on hyori's clothes.

"and that's for fucking cheating on him."

mika walked away and said before she walk out the door, "oh, you might get a bit smelly with that mocha cake, too!"
