and you've got a smile
that can light up this whole town"what time did that happen again?" a guard who is in charge of the CCTV cameras in mika's apartment asked jae suk who was paying attention at the rewinded footage one week ago.
"a-ah i remembered checking my watch at around 10:30, sir."
the guard forwarded the video and suddenly saw mika walking at the same street last week, "there! that's her." jae suk pointed at the familiar figure of mika walking on her own.
at the same time, the same guy who jae suk saw last week came behind her. jae suk tried to look for a good angle, "there, sir! pause it there." he asked the guard and did what he asked.
"zoom it a bit, sir." and the guard zoomed in and got a clearer shot to see the guy's face following mika.
jae suk asked for a print and got to the police station to give it to the police so that they can find any information about the guy.
he couldn't forget how much pain he saw from mika at that exact moment. tears, messy hair, the force she's trying to fight, even though a week already passed, it's still running through his head that's why he had to go and make a move about it.
after reporting to the police, he found his phone buzzing. it was a text from kwang soo.
hyung are you free tonight?
can you visit here later? i want you, mika, and mother to meet someone
maybe at around 9 if that's alright.
see you hyung. - kwang soo---
just as kwang soo asked, jae suk came at their place 10 minutes before 9 to see kwang soo's mother inside, with kwang soo nowhere to be seen.
"a-ah hello, mother." jae suk greeted at jung hana who opened the door for her.
"come in, jae suk, come in." she allowed him in and got inside bringing a black plastic bag just like everytime he visits their place.
"is kwang soo home?" he asked hana.
"ah, he told me that he's bringing someone today that's why he called you over." jung hana walked to the kitchen with him.
jae suk took out the snacks that he bought from the store and even some ingredients he knew that kwang soo's mother would like, "is it someone important?"
"he told me not to tell you and mika yet." jung hana chuckled letting jae suk laugh, "now that's unfair, mother!"
"mika felt the same too! she wanted to know who the person is, doubting if she really is his sister." jae suk laughed at jung hana's reply.
"speaking of mika..." jae suk started to help hana to organize stuff at the table, "is she here?"
"oh yeah, she's just on her room playing."
"can i uhmmm?" jae suk hesitated but jung hana just said, "sure, i can do this myself, you go talk to her if you want."
"o-okay." jae suk walked in front of mika's bedroom door before knocking on it, "mika?"
"come in." mika still seemed cold just by the reply. jae suk entered, closing the door afterwards and saw her with of course, clicking and pressing of buttons. even talking to herself.
mika took a quick look, "oh.. hello."
"how are you feeling?"
"i'm fine." mika replied as she continued her gaming. jae suk sat on the bed and just looked at mika with her back facing him because she was focusing on the computer.
"can we talk, mika?" jae suk suddenly broke the silence after quite a long one.
"about what?" he could tell that she's still uncomfortable with him here just by her voice.
"about what you said last week." the sudden answer got mika's eyes wide opened. "wait." she said and continued her gaming first. to be honest, she wanted to find a way to make the game longer so that she couldn't talk to him.
but eventually, a player kills her made her end up losing. "we can talk now, right?" jae suk asked as he witnessed the death on the screen.
mika just sighed and turned her chair around, "yeah." she awkwardly replied looking away from him.
"okay..." jae suk took a deep breath first before continuing, "is it true? do you really li--" and still, he couldn't continue because of mika cutting him off.
"please forget about that, okay? pretend that nothing happened."
"w-why?"
"look, liking you will change something big from what we got used to for years... p-please just forget about that, i'll just have to try my best not to like you. don't worry about me liking you and just pretend like you don't know that. okay?"
"but what if i tell you that--"
"mika! jae suk! they're here!" jung hana called from the living room stopping them from the conversation. instead of just staying quiet in her room, mika just stood up and opened the door, "mika, wait!" she heard jae suk before leaving her room to see kwang soo with a girl in the front door.
jae suk got outside of the room too and froze as he saw kwang soo and the girl together.
"oh they're all here uhmmm..." kwang soo looked at the girl's hand and held it intertwining them together, "uhmm, mom, mika, jae suk hyung, meet lee sun bin... my girlfriend."
"what?!" mika and jae suk said in unison.
"hello. it's nice to meet you." the thin voice of the kind lady greeted them with a very wide smile.
"aigoo, stop being so formal and come on, let's have dinner!" jung hana welcomed sun bin and got her laughing.
---
"so when did this happened? you know, the whole dating thing?" mika asked her brother as they all have dinner together.
"ah we've been dating for quite a long time now." kwang soo admitted with sun bin nodding.
"and you're just telling us now?" jae suk asked.
"eyy, at least he told you guys." jung hana said and takes a bite of the food.
"exactly when did you guys started dating?" mika asked.
"uhmm..." sun bin tried remembering, "around 7 months ago." she replied.
"seriously, i haven't got any suspicions with kwang soo oppa! i guess you really are a great actor." mika shrugged.
"hey!" kwang soo shouted at her.
"enough with the bickering, you two!" jung hana stopped them then looked at sun bin, "you should join us tomorrow, sun bin ah. we're going to mokpo and have a little one-day trip together."
"yeah, you should come." kwang soo told her.
"wait, wait, hold on." jae suk spoke, "why am i not informed about this? i should be there too!"
"no." jung hana said. "what? why, mother?" jae suk started whining.
"i'm kidding! of course, you should come. if you don't have a schedule tomorrow." hana smiled at him and taking a bite from the food again.
i can't believe he's coming.
