32: Jackson And Rae

Jackson POV

"I'm home.." I opened the main door with a sigh. It had been a hard day at work today.

"Welcome home, Young Master.." said my maid, Shin. She had been my maid since I was a child. I had asked my mom to bring Shin along, working and living with me after I got married. I liked her and treated her like my own mother. Now, she was the Head Maid in my household, managing the Yu House with the help of six other maids. It was a huge house, so it must have been tiring for her to do house chores alone.

"Shin, where's my wife?"

"She's at the garden. I think she's drawing something," said Shin with a smile.

"Okay.. take my bag to my room," I walked towards the garden to meet her.

From far, I could see a lady stroking a brush on the canvas. She stopped for a while, maybe she was thinking of something. I watched her for a moment. She was wearing a white shirt and faded slim-fit jeans. She always wore white, which made her more beautiful and delicate. She tied her hair in a high bun.

I walked towards her, putting my palm on her shoulder.

"Baby.." she was shocked, immediately standing up.

"Welcome home, Jack.." she bowed a bit. It was her habit to welcome me home like that. I preferred a warm hug from her. But, she was kinda.... cold. It had been five years since we got married. But, it seemed like nothing changed much.

"Come, let's have tea.." I gave her my hand, hoping that she would grab it so we could walk hand in hand. But, she refused to do it. Instead, she asked me to walk first, and she followed me from the back.

We reached the place where we always had tea time. The tea was already served by the maid. I sat on the chair when she pulled a chair in front of me. I grabbed her waist fast, making her sit on my lap. Her face reddened, and she avoided any eye contact with me.

"I don't think I should sit like this, Jack.."

"Why? You're my wife. You have the right to do it, baby.." I cupped her face with my left hand and placed my right hand on her waist. It was rare to see her like this. It was rare to see us like this. Things between us were quite complicated.

"You must be tired. I should.."

"Please don't move. Stay like this. Please~~" I made a cute pouted face to her. She blinked her eyes nervously. Slowly, I put my finger on her face, trailing from her hairline, down to the forehead, eyebrow, nose, and lips. Her pink lips were so damn tempting.

"Baby, why are your lips looking sexy day by day..." I swear she was shaking by my words. I had never kissed her in public. Maybe I should try it now. I slowly pulled her nape towards me, closing the gap between my lips and hers. My heart thumped like crazy. I was going to kiss her for the first time in public...

"Jackson, my son!" I cursed under my breath. My wife immediately struggled from my embrace, but I held her so she couldn't move.

"Hey, mom.."

"Why are you sitting on my son's lap?! He just came back to work, and he was tired! Were you planning to kill him?!"

"Mom, geez! Let me cuddle her once in a while!"

"She shouldn't do that! You need a rest!" my wife immediately hopped down from my lap and scooted over.

My mother sat on the chair next to me.

"Wait, you don't want to serve my tea?" she yelled at her.

"I'm sorry.." immediately she poured some tea into the teacup and served my mother. I just couldn't facepalm, looking at them.

"Mom, Rae is my wife. Not a maid!"

"She's my daughter-in-law. I have rights.."

"Mom..." looks like she didn't even care about my feelings when she treated my wife as a maid. Rae just kept her head down and slowly moved from the scene.

"Nice tea.."

"Mom, you should call first next time. Where are you from? Did dad know?"

"Dad knew; he even sent his regards to you. I'm coming from Madam Lee's house. Her daughter-in-law just gave birth to twins!" Here we were again! I knew where this conversation leads to. I was ready with my reasons and excuses.

"How lucky she is! Having a baby itself is a blessing. Let alone having twins. What a lucky lad!"

"Well, congratulations then.."

"Haish.. when will I get that kind of chance..."

"Mom, enough of this. We already talked about this..."

"It's been five years, Jack! Five empty years! Did you care about the future? You need an heir for all of this! Besides, you're almost thirty! When will you have one!" Yep, just what I thought!

"Mom, come on! It's a huge responsibility to raise a child! I don't think I'm ready for that!"

"You can just leave it to your lovely wife. She has done nothing at home, besides stroking a brush on canvas. Give her some work to do," I rolled my eyes, feeling annoyed.

"Mom.. again, Rae is not a maid nor a nanny. She is my wife! I love her, and I don't want to see her tired and raising a child alone. It's a two-party job!" I gave her my first excuse.

"Besides, she's just 23! Still young! I don't want her to lose her beautiful figure so fast. I still want her, cuddling with her, and spending so much time with her without any sort of disturbance..." my mother gave me a deathly gaze.

"That's it! No more excuses! I'll give it to you until the end of this year. If you two fail to give me a grandchild, you two need to get a divorce! I'm going to my room. Shin!! Prepare the room!!" This was too much for me to handle. My mom just stormed into the house.

"Mom, wait..." I tried to chase her but was shocked to find out Rae was standing behind the door silently. I guess she already heard everything. As usual, she just kept silent and walked into her room.

Me and Rae were married for almost five years. When my dad brought me to meet her for the first time, I couldn't deny loving her so much. With those innocent faces, I fell in love instantly. She was a good girl, always obeyed me and never complained.

She was just a pawn to settle her father's debt. My dad gave him a considerable amount of money, but he failed to pay it back. As a result, my dad kept her on hold until the debt was settled. But, when I came along with my dad to see her being kept in a house, I told my dad that I wanted to marry Rae and asked him to forgo her father's debt. My dad agreed, but my mom didn't. It took me a month to convince her. Finally, she gave her blessing.

Since then, Rae was appointed as The Young Lady Yu in the Yu House. I was the young master, so I prepared everything for her and prohibited her from doing any kind of house chores.

But, my mom took advantage of this to bully her. She always 'borrowed' Rae to do chores at the main house; her house. Especially during the big gatherings and events. She even asked Rae to come every weekend when she called her friends for a ladies' time. Rae never complained, nor told anything, but I knew they must talk behind her back.

Everything was okay in my marriage life. But, Rae was so cold towards me. She treated me more like a master than a husband. We never slept together. I never had a chance to do lovey-dovey stuff with her, as she always passed it and always ensured there were people around us.

I always wanted to do lots of stuff with her; going for a romantic date, cuddling, and making love romantically. We had sex almost every day except when her cycle came. But... it felt more like a service rather than love. She would leave immediately after it ended, leaving me to sleep alone.

I wished I could understand her more. I hoped that one day she would open up more. I thought she had something that she kept to herself. I needed to find out what it was!
