Chapter two

Jaanvi hated going to school. There were many reasons to begin with. One, she had no friends. Classmates, yes she had but friends, it was a definite no. The only friend she ever had was Ayaansh but now it seemed like that friendship was becoming blur as well.

Two, Ayaansh was soon going to pass and leave, which meant, she couldn't see him in school anymore. Up until her fourth grade, he did acknowledge her presence by smiling at her whenever they crossed paths. But when she got promoted to fifth grade, he stopped even looking her way.

Thinking that he was busy in his studies, she didn't even realise that he was slowly changing. She was just nine then, so rather than thinking about his behaviour, she chose to focus on her studies.

Lastly, now that her Maa was pregnant, she didn't want to leave her and go. Yes, she had Tee, her Dad and even Sahil uncle to look after her however she wanted to be there for her as well.

"Jaanvi, you'll be late for school. Get ready fast, Ayaansh must be on his way." Zevah called out bringing her out of her thoughts. Jaanvi hurriedly got ready and arranged her books before she ran out of her room.

Zevah was already laying out her breakfast but just then Ayaansh arrived. "Ayaansh, you had your breakfast?" She asked as she stuffed the bread in Jaanvi's mouth and pushed the tiffin box in her bag. Ayaansh nodded as he watched her trying to gobble down the food.

"Maa," She swallowed, chewing hurriedly and wanting to disappear for being in such a state infront of Ayaansh. She then grabbed an apple and held Ayaansh's hand, "I'll be fine. You should stop worrying about me now. So sit and eat something." Zevah smilingly shook her head as they waved her goodbye.

"Be careful." She yelled behind them and Ayaansh pulled his hand out of Jaanvi's hold a little harshly. She felt hurt but didn't say anything, sitting inside the car. Ayaansh settled beside the driver and they were off to the school.

"Ayaan─" She started but he cut her off, "Its Ayaansh." This time though, she felt angry and clenched her fist.

"I was going to say exactly that, if you would've let me complete, Ayaansh." She deliberately stressed on his name with an edge to her tone which he noticed as well.

He didn't like her attitude. At all. Infact he hated it.

Ayaansh hated anyone talking back or being rude to him. He felt like punching the person but since he wasn't a violent person, he would just let it go, not before giving a warning.

This time though, it was Jaanvi. Adi and Zee's daughter. His mom's Vi and the one he grew up with. And the fact that she was a girl, didn't help either.

So, he clenched his jaw and curled his fists in order to control himself from lashing out at her. He ignored her and prayed that she spoke nothing further for her own good and thankfully she stayed silent for the rest of the ride.

Jaanvi watched as Ayaansh jumped and strode out of the car as fast as he could. And she knew he was only trying to get away from her.

She sighed and got off of the car, walking inside the school gate. When she got to her class, a few passed her smiles and waves while she did the same. They were only fake smiles because hers was the same.
