Chapter thirteen
Jaanvi was more than anxious. It was her results day and all the way to her school, her knees kept bouncing up and down while her hands kept fighting with something or the other.
"Jaave," Aditya glanced at her through the rear view mirror. "Relax! Everything will be just fine." He assured her but her nerves were acting up.
Zevah held her daughter's hand and it gave little comfort to Jaanvi. When it came to the results, the twelve year old would become conscious and all the worst case scenarios would pop up in the mind.
What if I get the lowest marks? What if I failed?
"We're here!" Aditya announced spiking Jaanvi's heart rate even more. He got down and moved to Zevah's side to help her out of the car while Jaanvi wished she could vanish somewhere.
Aditya noticed his daughter nervously looking around. "Jaave," He held his hand out which she immediately took and passed him a nervous smile.
Pulling her by his side, he held her by her shoulders. "Don't be afraid of the results. If you pass then you did well and if you fail then you tried your best. Now chin up and let's go."
Once inside her classroom, they greeted the teacher and Jaanvi eyed the results which now rested in the hands of her class teacher.
"Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Singhania!" She smiled sweetly at them, her eyes landing on Jaanvi and she begins handing out the report.
As the teacher hands it over to Aditya, he immediately passes it to Jaanvi without a look. She gives him a confused look to which he smiles and replies, "I'll have a look after you see it."
Jaanvi nodded and taking a deep breath glanced at her result. A relieved sigh left her lips once her eyes landed on "Pass". She then started checking her marks which were pretty good according to her.
With a grin, she then pushed the result into Aditya's hand who only chuckled at his daughter's face.
"She has worked hard but she can do better if she gives her 100%." The teacher remarked as the parents went through her performance. "Also, Jaanvi needs to interact more with her classmates. I've only seen her sitting alone at her desk and that is not quite good. Overall she is a smart kid." She gave a smile to Jaanvi who in turn forced one on her face.
Zevah and Aditya were already staring at their daughter who now seemed uncomfortable. "Thank you Ms. Sanghvi! I know my daughter is already giving her best and about making friends, I leave it to her about when and how she wants to make friends because I know she is capable of doing that." There was a smile on his face but it was far from sincere.
"Jaanvi," All of their attention was drawn to Abigail who was waving excitedly at Jaanvi.
The smile transformed into a smirk. "See."
Ms. Sanghvi opened her mouth and closed it for a few times but found nothing to say. Zevah thanked her as they got up to leave and glared at Aditya who only gave her a she-started-it look.
Jaanvi pursed her lips and waved goodbye to Abigail and Nihal who smiled at her. She wondered why he was there with Abigail instead of their parents.
