Chapter three

Turns out, skipping school for a day was not bad at all, especially when you needed to be alone, the most.

Jaanvi found a secluded place which seemed a little dangerous but she took her chances. With no one around to judge her, bully her or look at her, she just sat there, staring into nothingness.

All that came to her mind was a complete mess. A lot of thoughts passing by that she couldn't even catch on one and decide which one to focus on. Everything seemed difficult and she just had the strongest urge to cry.

And so, she did.

She cried to herself without wanting to hold back.

She cried for being a person who couldn't even stand up for herself.

She cried for being a coward and running away.

And it felt good, letting it out without having to explain it to others.

When she reached home, Zevah and Aditya were already present with Aditya making some calls and Zevah watching him with a worried expression.

Just when Aditya cut the call, she sprang up, "what? Where is she? Did you find her?" It felt like she would go crazy any moment cause her daughter was missing.

Aditya sighed, "Zevah, relax. Don't stress out. Jaave will be fine and we'll find her." He was worried as well, so much that he wanted to run out and search for his daughter on streets but he had to think rationally.

And now, watching her parents so scared and worried, Jaanvi felt guilty to no extent. She shouldn't have been so reckless.

"Maa," She called out in a tiny voice but it was enough to get their attention. Zevah stood up with a jerk and almost ran to her before engulfing her into a tight hug. She kept whispering 'you're fine' while kissing her forehead repeatedly. While Aditya felt like he could breathe again, Jaanvi soon felt his protective embrace around her and it made her go teary.

She let out a shaky breath, "I'm sorry," her voice was muffled but they heard it. When they stepped back, she kept looking down, unable to look into their eyes. "I shouldn't have skipped school." She admitted shamefully.

"then why did you?" Jaanvi gulped hearing her mother's stern voice. What was she supposed to say? That she was bullied and she ran away?

"I─" She clenched her fists and tried not to let her tears run through. She tried to calm herself but it felt like she was losing it more. Her breathing accelerated and she felt anxious. Palms got sweaty and vision for blurry.

"Jaave," she blinked and looked up at her father who gave her a concerned look. Jaanvi bit the inside of her cheeks and swallowed the lump in her throat. She then took a deep breath and answered, "I'm sorry. I know it's my fault and I won't give any excuses. You both can give me any punishment and I'll accept it." She confessed and instead this worried both of them more.

They could sense that something was wrong but asking her now would only be futile. So instead, Zevah just sighed and nodded, "okay. Since you know you were wrong and have admitted your mistake, we won't punish you. But that doesn't mean we'll let you off every time. Understood?" Zevah said strictly and Jaanvi nodded obediently.
