Chapter fourteen
"Maa," Jaanvi whined, "I don't want to go with Ayaansh and his friends."
Zevah sighed as she heard it for the fifth time. She then turned towards her daughter and sat her down.
"Now tell me why. Is it because it'll be awkward with three boys? But Ayaansh is there with you baby." Jaanvi made a face at that. That is the whole problem.
She took a deep breath and held Zevah's hands, "I'll be fine not going anywhere. It's okay. And Paa said that he'll take us on Christmas holidays right? Then why this? I'm glad that Tee is thinking about me but Ayaansh is going on a trip with his friends who are the same age as his. If I decide to go with them, I know they'll be able to enjoy less. So, please let them enjoy on their own."
Zevah had a surprised look on her face. Before Jaanvi could continue, Zevah interrupted, "Okay, I get it. You are starting to sound like Srishti now. So stop."
Jaanvi laughed, "Thanks for the compliment."
"It wasn't." Zevah rolled her eyes.
"Oh, what if Abigail also joins? You both could have fun and the three boys can enjoy as well." Zevah suggested excitedly.
Jaanvi groaned, "Maa, please," she threw her head back, covering her face with her hands. Zevah frowned, "What? Ayaansh is also your friend. It'll be fun."
After a minute, she added, "He is, right?"
Jaanvi bit her lip in nervousness, "Yes?"
"Why do I hear a question?"
"Ugh. Fine. I don't know if we're still friends and besides we aren't kids anymore. He has his own friends and I—well I'm making my friends." It was the truth.
Zevah frowned again. "I don't get it. I mean I know you both have an age gap but he was always fond of you when you were kids. I'm sure he won't mind if you go with him."
"He's not fond of me anymore." Jaanvi mumbled under her breath.
"What?" Zevah narrowed her eyes. "Whatever. I'm calling Abigail and asking her if you are not doing it." She announced and got up with her phone before Jaanvi could process what she said.
When she did, a gasp escaped her mouth, "Maa, noooo!"
It was too late though as Zevah was already talking on the phone. Jaanvi sulked all the time she talked on the phone. Once she cut the call, Jaanvi huffed and turned the other way not wanting to talk to her mother.
"Well, if you don't want to know what your friend's answer is, then okay! I can go rest and you—" Jaanvi's eye twitched but she was stubborn as she waited for Zevah to complete her sentence. "—can stare at that wall all day. Bye baby."
Jaanvi whined loudly, "Maaaa!" She followed her behind causing Zevah to hide her smile.
"Tell me what she said!" She demanded.
"Well, Abigail doesn't mind going on that trip. Maybe Nihal would join too." Her mother smirked at her and she narrowed her eyes.
Nihal was a year younger to Ayaansh, which meant he was now promoted to the tenth class. She met him a few times before but that didn't mean they were friends or anything. Besides he is Abigail's brother so if he wants to come with his sister, who was she to deny it.
But the question was should she really go on this trip when Ayaansh has clearly expressed his dislike towards her?
────────
Ayaansh was the least excited for the trip now that he waited for Jaanvi to arrive so that they could leave. Well, Pranav was also not on time but he was not the one who ruined his fun.
"Why didn't you bring her with you if you're annoyed to wait for her?" Abir asked as he watched Ayaansh glancing at his watch repeatedly with a pissed look.
At his question, Ayaansh gave him a dirty look. "She is not my responsibility." He snapped.
"I beg to differ." Abir's response was quick and he watched as Ayaansh balled his fists. "For this trip." The boy added quickly.
Just then Abir spotted Jaanvi with Aditya and there was another girl along with them. He tapped Ayaansh who looked at him with an irritated face.
When Abir pointed towards her direction, Ayaansh narrowed his eyes and clenched his jaw but that look quickly vanished when he spotted Aditya.
"Where is Sahil?" Was Aditya's first question when he reached near Ayaansh.
Ayaansh noticed there was another person with Jaanvi, who seemed to be hiding behind her. He didn't care to look because if she brought along a friend of hers, she won't bug him during the trip because of the company.
"He went to pick up Pranav. The idiot said he'll come on his own but then called us when we reached here saying he got late and can't get a cab." Ayaansh explained causing Aditya to chuckle.
Abir nodded. "Dude was about to have a panic attack but then Sahil uncle assured he'll pick him up." Jaanvi suppressed her smile because it was funny. She did notice Ayaansh glaring her way but didn't want to look at him directly.
God knows what'll happen after Aditya leaves.
"There they are." Abir pointed and they turned in the direction to watch Pranav and Sahil coming their way.
Pranav heaved a sigh a relief when he reached there. "I was about to die being stranded on the road." He cried out.
"You were standing outside your house." Sahil deadpanned.
Jaanvi and Abigail giggled while Aditya sympathetically patted Pranav's back, "He has no feelings. I got you." Pranav sniffed and nodded at that.
Sahil rolled his eyes along with the two boys who very well knew their dramatic friend.
"Now if everyone is here, get your bags and move along. You don't want to miss your flight." Sahil announced and they all nodded. Jaanvi hugged Aditya goodbye and followed Abir behind. Abigail hurried just behind her.
As Aditya and Sahil walked back to their cars, Sahil took out his bag, "You're going with them?" Aditya questioned and Sahil nodded.
"Cool. I'll see you then, buddy." They hugged each other and Sahil moved inside.
When Ayaansh noticed Sahil inside, he frowned. "Dad? Did you forget something?"
"I'm coming with you all."
"WHAT?" The boys chorused.
