Chapter twenty-three
There was a lot of pressure, anxiety and nervousness already because her exams were approaching and Jaanvi did not need people reminding her that she needed to focus.
"Jaanvi what is this? You need to tune out everything else and focus on studying." Zevah said as she applied butter to the bread.
"Focus on studying." Zavi repeated like the side-kick he is and when her eyes met his, he giggled cutely, melting her heart.
Aditya gestured Jaanvi to ignore her mother and made faces which had her holding her laugh because if she laughed in the middle of her lecture, she was doomed. After breakfast, she moved out and found Ayaansh's car already waiting.
A smile formed on her face and she walked towards the car followed by Mishkat. She knocked on the window and when it rolled down, Ayaansh grinned at her but she ignored him and looked the one who mattered.
"Jaanviii," Kiara squealed and she waved at her making Ayaansh frown.
"Rude." She heard him grumble under his breath, finding it adorable.
It had been a week since she agreed to give him a chance; a chance to earn her forgiveness and she is still nervous about it. She doesn't know if she did the right thing or not but one thing, she is sure about is, this is the last chance she is giving him.
Ayaansh insisted that he will be driving both Kiara and her to their school and college respectively because they have been going together before he came so he will make sure they still do. Only in addition of his presence and of course the bodyguard's.
Jaanvi settled in the passenger seat and Mishkat in the backseat with a dark scowl on his face. The guy hated sitting behind, despite him saying that it would be better if he drove the car and Ayaansh sat behind but of course Ayaansh refused and the man had no choice.
"So, how are your exam preparations going?" Ayaansh asked casually but it triggered Jaanvi and she shot him a fiery glare. "Stop talking!" She hissed, beyond annoyed at everyone asking her about her exams.
"Woah! Calm down tiger. I was just asking. No need to get angry." He stole glances at her as she huffed and stared out of the window. Kiara giggled at their bickering and she nudged Mishkat with her elbow. "Aren't they cute?"
At her grin, Mishkat gave her a blank stare and returned to stiffly admiring the passing buildings. Kiara rolled her eyes and left the brooding man alone but five minutes later, she tapped on his shoulder, "Are you always like this?" She asked, curious.
He blinked. "Like what?"
"Quiet. Mysterious. Brooding?"
Ayaansh and Jaanvi listened on to the conversation with amusing smiles. Jaanvi shifted and turned to look at Mishkat who had his stare fixated on Kiara. Ayaansh frowned at her reaction and slightly pulled her arm, "Sit straight. It's distracting." He muttered and she scowled but did as told.
After a minute Mishkat replied with one word, "Yes."
It made Jaanvi chuckle and before Kiara could interrogate him more, the car stopped.
"First stop, the school. Kids get down." Ayaansh announced and Jaanvi looked at him amused. He has never behaved like this in the last week.
Kiara gasped. "I'm not a kid!"
Ayaansh chuckled, "You're a kid to me. And stay inside after school, I will come to pick you up." He instructed and she nodded still solemn about being called a kid.
"Bye Jaanvi. Bye Mr. Broody," She waved at them and got out of the car. Jaanvi smiled and waved her back when she turned around and grinned at them.
Once she was inside, Ayaansh started the car but they heard Mishkat grumble, "Let me drive."
